Are the Ft Wilderness bus times posted in the app so we can get an idea of when to head over from our DVC cabin? Is there a bus that runs straight to Wilderness Lodge or a park bus that we could use to get off/on and travel from Ft Wilderness to Wilderness Lodge to see the holiday decor at the lodge? I know there is a boat from the marina but thinking bus may be quicker since the cabins are toward the front of the resort. This is our 1st Ft Wilderness trip so I appreciate any and all transportation advice. It is what scares me the most :) We will have our vehicle, would it be faster to drive to all parks? I usually rely on Disney buses but realize the campground is huge and has it own setbacks

We find it faster to drive to the parks, except MK. We take a boat or bus there. Thanksgiving weekend we only had one park day, started at Epcot and hopped to MK. So we decided to bus to Epcot, app was not helpful for bus times this morning, so we were thankful to see an Epcot bus shortly after we got to the bus area (7:30am). Took the monorail from E to MK and then a boat very late after closing (Tron!) back to the campground. I'm not sure if the boat called ahead, but there was a fort bus waiting for us which was so nice that last at night. Dropped us and another party off at 1500 camping loop and took DH back to main parking lot to pick up the car. DH was just a few minutes behind us. That's just our experience. Normally we drive to the parks from the Fort. I didn't realize the Fort and Lodge shared buses until friends staying at the Lodge same time we were at the Fort mentioned their bus driving through the Fort before being dropped off at the end of the day coming back from the parks. The Fort is special, so beaitiful. i hope you enjoy your trip as much as we did. Or even more with the cabin!

There are bus times listed on the app, I don't use that much, I wait till I get to the pick up, the monitors are pretty accurate, been at the fort about 18 times, park busses are 20 min average wait,.not sure on internals, we always have a cart

Yellow is an internal bus, but it goes back and forth between the Settlement bus stop (Hoop de do/marina) and WL as part of its regular route. Turn around time is about 20 minutes.

I find a picture is worth a thousand words (in this case), @jenhelgren .

FW Bus Map 2024.jpg
For the sake of this discussion, let's focus on the Outpost Bus Depot (bottom right) and Settlement Bus Depot (upper left) initially. There are 3 internal bus lines (Orange, Yellow, Purple) that run back and forth between the two bus depots. So, for example, when @Stratman50th says the Yellow runs to WL, what actually happens is a Yellow Bus leaves the Outpost BD and runs down the east side of the Fort (follow the yellow line on the map) and gets to the Settlement BD. Then it CHANGES its signboard outside over the driver's head and will say "Wilderness Lodge". THEN it will take you to WL (and back to Settlement, flips to "Yellow", and runs back to Outpost BD).

I will add it is USUALLY the Yellow that runs down to WL and back. Just watch the overhead sign boards at the Settlement BD or ask the driver.

In the mornings you can take a bus to MK from the Settlement BD (use internal to get there). A dedicated bus runs back and forth in the morning between FW and MK - also dedicated in the evenings. Midday it often stops each way at WL as well.

To get to MK you can also take the boat from the dock at the Marina (top). It will arrive to run to MK 1hour 40minutes before the official opening time. So for 9am official, it gets to the Fort at 720am or so (holds a lot of people) and gets to the MK dock about 745am. The MK gates open at or slightly before 8am, you walk down to the hub and to the right toward the teacups and queue up for the Early Opening at 830am (CM's scan MB's at the hub to allow Early access).

That's how internals work and transport to MK. Buses run to EP, AK, HS from the Outpost (catch an internal in that direction) as well as Disney Springs. Those locations also send buses back to the Outpost on the return trip.

Honestly we boat to MK and drive to the other parks (no difference bus or boat really to MK). Boat puts you close to the front gate. The other parks make you wait for an internal, then wait for a park bus, and then the bus depot at the parks is a walk too. So we just drive from our campsite/cabin to the EP, AK, HS lots and walk it in there.

Since you're going to be in a cabin, you can take an Orange or Purple bus in which ever direction you want to go. Just be aware there is NO automobile parking down by the Settlement BD, Marina, or Pioneer Hall (Trails End, HDDR) area. And there is VERY limited parking (6 spots) at the Meadow Trading Post which is near the campfire singalong movie spot (no parking either).

My map was from our January 2024 stay. Good luck!

PS - the boat between FW, WL, CR only runs in the afternoons/evenings and then only in one direction (don't know which CW or CCW). So we just take the bus to WL from Settlement which is not bad at all.

I'm laughing at myself, @Stratman50th (Don). I shared a picture and STILL spewed a thousand words.

Thank you so much! I love being able to get detailed information and make sense of our trip plans on the boards! We loved our short stay at Fort but realized how may transportation tricks there are to learn. We met some very nice regulars that had advice for HS and Epcot buses as well. We did bus from WL back to Outpost and after asking the driver and were told to stay on the bus and she would get us to the front, so I did still end up confused, but it worked :)

Is there golf cart parking at the Outpost?

Yes Immediately behind the Outpost bus depot. If it fills up people park along the horse corral side of the main road. You'll see what I mean when you get there.

How long does it take for a bus to get from the Outpost to the Settlement?
On a good day, I would say about 10-15 minutes. I would allow plenty of time (maybe about 30 minutes) to allow for guests needing to use the wheelchair lift, because that will add time to the journey from Outpost to Settlement.
