Ft W Cabin supplies?

Hey all,

So I know this isn't strictly 'camping', but our next trip to Ft W will be in a cabin, driving Xcountry rather than towing. nDH (nonDisney Husband) won't fly. Interestingly enough, our 'transport costs' are about the same with towing vs driving and hotels. We drive a Prius, which I think makes all the difference.

I'm wondering about the supplies they put in the cabins. I know they put in dishwasher & dish soaps, but just how many loads/washes are we talking here? Enough for one? Enough to last a week? I don't want to buy dish soap(s) if what they provide will last DH and I 10 days.

I estimate we'll probably run the dishwasher maybe 3 times since we aren't doing 'big cooks' in the cabin and may only be handwashing coffee cups.

Do they tailor the amount of dishes and cutlery to the number of guests? What I mean is will they just supply 2 plates, 2 place settings, 2 cups, etc since it will be only the 2 of us or do they leave a 'standard' amount. In my experience it's usually 'service for 4'.

I'm still sort of sad we won't be camping, but nDH says he wants to try something different. Oh well, at least we'll be at the Fort & the Parks, and that's what really matters

I am not DVC, so if you are on a DVC stay this might not be accurate. When we stayed there, they cleaned every second day and restocked all supplies, from memory there were two things for the dishwasher maybe more as we never ran out, but if we used them they just restocked (we tended to leave a note explaining what we needed eg each time we needed more coffee pods). We had 3 people but the setting eg number of plates was for 4, so I am thinking they do 4 as normal. The cleaners were great about supplying whatever we needed, eg extra blankets and sheets for the bunks.

So I have not stayed at the cabins since they were converted. But it should be like any other dvc. Fully stocked no matter how many people are staying. As DVC has a standard. For your dishwasher, if you start to get low or run out, just call and they will resupply. Never been an issue, even for those with washing machines.

The cabins sleep up to six, so I’d expect plates, flatware, etc. for six. And as PP have noted, they’ll bring more dishwashing or other supplies on request.

We've stayed in the new cabins twice. They are great!

To your question, there is ample dishware for 6 people, including plates, glassware, etc. There is a starter supply of coffee/dish detergent, etc, however, if you need more, mousekeeping will be happy to supply it. If you are on cash vs. DVC, you will probably get everyday service, so they will probably just restock you daily.

I would highly suggest renting a golf cart. Is it absolutely necessary? No. Will it drastically enhance your visit? Yes...

Have a great time at the Fort! It has become one of our favorite places!

This will be our 5th time to the Fort, but the first time in a cabin and we're looking forward to it.

Defo renting a cart. We've always gotten a site near the Settlement where we could walk to everything we needed. This time we know we'll need a cart to get where we want to go since the cabins aren't really close to anything. We drive to the 3 other Parks but take the boat to MK.

I suggested the Kenny Carts to DH but he said he'd rather pay the extra for a Disney cart than have the hassle of picking up/dropping off off-site.

The key .....STAY AHEAD OF NEEDS/SUPPLIES. PLAN AHEAD
Stay one meal ahead of your utilities: pots, pans, hamburger flipper, etc. Most items are available, just not immediately.
