Is this really true that we can now get over the counter Medicine(Advil, cold medicine etc) without a doctor note?? Plus we can claim menstrual products? I read it on the FSA online store. If this is true its AMAZING!!!!

Please let me know if you’ve submitted claims and got those items reimbursed. Let me know what you think and if you already knew😊

I am "semi retired" and no longer on my employers health plan but they did send an e-mail that you are now able (again) to be reimbursed for these type on items. :-)

When did you get the email? I never received one. I’m so happy they did this. It was a hassle with certain doctors to get written stuff for over the counter meds. I’m happy about the menstral products , I’ve already spend $42 on stuff for me and my daughter

last week. text read:
FSAs now allow reimbursement of over-the-counter drugs/medical care and feminine hygiene products without prescription from a physician. This is a permanent change to the eligible expenses list and includes retroactive purchases made after December 31, 2019.

DH said the same thing last week. He was a bit excited about the fact that we can use our FSA for OTC meds. Just keep the receipt as I know PayFlex will send me a nasty gram wanting it . Don't know about the feminine hygiene products, but I think it's a good idea.

Unfortunately ours has already covered multiple big ticket items this year, so I'll keep this in mind should I have anything left in a few months and need to restock.

Wow! This is great! For the past 3 years I've been asking our doctor to write scripts for me each year for my OTC allergy meds (Claritin, Rhinocort, Sudafed) and recommended OTCs such as fish oil and baby aspirin. I always feel like such a pest because it needs to be a paper script that I can upload to their website so that's a lot of paper scripts to print out. Most scripts they send electronically to pharmacy and she never acts like it's a bother at all but I feel like I'm taking a lot of her time.

Anyway, I'm so glad they made this change!! Darn, I've always wanted to try Flonase and bought some last week but due to the virus I quickly tossed my receipt. I could have submitted this.

Are daily vitamins eligible?

My primary and allergy doctor have always been fine giving me an over the counter note or several on RX pad if it 1-2. If it’s for several they always are good with it but tell the nurse to give me whatever I need. Primary nurse at first wouor get annoyed ( she was new and young). My endocrinologist blew me away! She knows I'm trying get healthier with my diabetes. When I told her I was even taking vitamins, she asked which ones.
I told her
-fish oil
-vitamin C
-vitamin D
-magnesium
-women’s one a day
And I started taking chia seeds like she told me.
She said that’s really good but it gets expensive so I’m going to write you a letter for the vitamins and chia seeds that it’s to help with your diabetes. I was so shocked and thanked her so much!

Vitamin I believe still need a letter and it needs to be for medical/ health reason.
Flonase is great but my dd doesn’t like the smell and can tell I sprayed from opposite side of the house🤣

:lmao:

Over the years, my allergies have affected my sense of smell. I'm at the point now that it has to be something really strong to smell it.

I was so glad to swipe my HSA card for my Zyrtec D last week. $20 in my pocket! I hope they don't ask for receipt because I surely threw it in the garbage.

We were notified about the HSA changes yesterday. It doesn't matter to us, as it's all our money, anyway. The account it comes from doesn't make any difference. You still paid for it out of your paycheck.

Yes, but now we don’t have to go through the hassle of getting a note or letter from our doctors for over the counter medicine
