What a great place! I have been a lurker here for a while but have never posted. Well, tonight I decided to change that.
To make a long story short, I never had a weight problem in my younger years. It developed after having children and now I find myself in a "have to lose" situation. For 3 years I have been on meds for HBP and in May of this year I was diagnosed with "Fatty Liver". I was told I had two choices: 1. lose weight 2. Die. I chose #1. I have been changing things in our diet since mid May and am doing pretty good. I have lost about 25 pounds since then but now I am having a difficult time losing anymore and it is getting frustrating. Besides losing the little amount of weight that I have lost I have been able to stop taking one of my BP meds all together and only take the other 3 days a week. Just looking for ways to stay motivated I guess. I have 3 reasons: a wonderful husband, 16 yr old DD and 9 yr old DD but it still seems almost impossible at times. Thanks for "listening" and I'll be reading more of the success stories to help keep me going!

Great job with changing your family's diet and the weight loss...you must feel great! :cheer2: You didn't mention how much weight you would like to lose so I am guessing that the 25 pounds hasn't put you at your goal weight. Sometimes with people who have led a certain type of lifestyle with dietary choices and a more sedentary lifestyle, any positive changes result in relatively quick weight loss. I am guessing that your doctor is keeping close tabs on you as you have been able to drop some medication...have you thought about starting a workout plan? Your local YMCA is a great place to start. Most (if not all) have Y trained personal trainers who can help you get started with a weight training and cardio plan. With weight training, you will not only see a change in you body besides that on the scale, you will also SEE a change in your physique as you get toned. Plus, muscle burns more calories than fat, so if you increase your muscle mass, you will burn more calories on a daily basis just because you have more muscle. And, weight lifting helps maintain bone density. Most Y's have a variety of cardio equipment, from indoor tracks, swimming pools, treadmills, elliptical machines (which are a great place to start) and bikes. Then there are the classes. If joining a Y isn't something for you right now, maybe you could walk in the morning or at night. Do you have any friends or family members that would like to walk with you...to lose weight? A buddy really helps. Adding working out should boost your metabolism to get you losing again and you will feel great! Maybe your girls would like to exercise with you which would be great as well. Good luck :thumbsup2

Congratulations to you!

I am proud of you for what you have accomplished! I am happy you have come out of lurk mode to join in the fun here too.

25 pounds is not a little amount! You are doing great!

You do have good reasons as you have mentioned. Don't forget that your other good reason is for you. If you keep on with it you will stay as healthy as you can and knowing that will make you better able to be there for those you love.

Right on that this is not easy. Keep it with small steps and as you look back realize you have made huge and positive accomplishments.

Come out to play with your WISH team friends here. Everyone is most helpful and we could use your help too.
