Frustrating Pedi today....

Marcy...was it the new place on Catasaqua Rd? I went there and no one spoke English either...there was an older man who spoke some (and by some I mean VERY little). There was a gal asking for the water to be hoter and no one knew what she was trying to say!!!!

YES!!! (were you there yesterday??!! My friend asked for the water to be hotter...:rotfl:)

I had been there once before, about a month or so ago, and I had a really good pedi and didn't have much of a need to communicate. All of those extras...the hot rocks, paraffin, massage, etc....those were nice and something I've never had at other salons, so I decided to give them another try. I don't think I'll be back.

There was a girl there yesterday...I think she was new. She kept stopping and asking them what to do, and it wasn't the best pedi ever.

All in all, it was kind of a weird, awkward experience!

No I was there the 2nd week in May (before I ahd the baby...this way my feet looked nice for delivery!!). I will give them another go..it was WAY relaxing and for the price it was ok. I only get 1 or 2 a year, if that, but this summer I may be treating myself!

This is so true - I pay $25 just for a pedi here in Myrtle Beach, I never paid that in NJ.

I really don't mind that they don't speak to me. I like to go relax and read magazines when I am getting a pedi.

Me, too! I am a Jersey girl and mani/pedi at my local place is $20 special. The spa with all English speaking people is $35 for just a pedi. I like the local place I go to now because they very rarely chat in their native language, they do talk to customers even if they don't always know the right word. The one girl has a dictionary and textbooks she works on if they are not busy. I've seen her practicing and I really admire her for it!

Actually, i HATE it when people try to talk to me while I am getting a manicure or pedicure!! I would rather just sit back in my massage chair and relax without answering a 1000 nosey questions!

I also wish they wouldn't talk to me. Last time I went in, the lady doing my nails was so extremely nosy- she kept asking me where I lived, what schools my kids went to, where I was going after my appointment, where I work, and a lot of other personal questions that I would rather not share.

I don't like it when they talk to each other in their native tongue- I think it's rude. I also think it's annoying when they spend the whole time trying to upsale me. A lot of times they are sneaky about it and I don't realize what I am being charged until the end. I've had them do things I didn't ask for, and even try to do services on me that I said I did not want. This is when they 'really don't speak English'.

I don't like to splurge often on getting mani/pedi's, but I admit I do try to pick a place that isn't top dollar (I have a few times, but seldom) and I honestly don't know if it's worth it most of the time. I've been to several different places and haven't found one I fully love yet.

$40 where I go. They all speak english. It's also a spa/salon. They serve coffee, water, cookies, and wine!

I had my first pedi today, I don't know why I waited so long! I went the the place that does my manicures, no one there speaks any English, except the owner, and she barely can. That's my whole reason for going there, I don't want chit chat. We smile at each other, I pick a color, and off we go. Now if I could find a hair person that would shut up, everything would be perfect!
