Frustrated with recent discounts

I have booked a package at the YC w/ 6 day hoppers from 6/12 - 6/19. I currently have a discount on the first 3 nights from the Spring promotion. When the summer promotion was released, I immediately called to see if I could get the rest of my dates. The only available rooms showing on that promotion was club level, so since we are currently in a garden view- The discount wouldn't really help us. Then today... I get the email! A pin code for 30% off room and park hopper option free with a 5 day minimum base ticket- for our entire stay!! Too good to be true? Yep. Only available rooms at both YC or BC are club level. So.... Again- it would be a lot more. Thanks for letting me vent. Happy we are going, but I feel the discounts are misleading. :headache:

Eh, they're based on availability and sent out in waves. This is probably the third wave or so of pins, so lots of rooms have already been snagged up.

I wouldn't call it misleading. It can be frustrating for sure though.

I would crunch the numbers on the Club Level rooms.... Considering all the perks that may be a great deal for you with not much more money. It all depends on how much you would be able to use the lounge. I understand your frustration!

This is why I've been booking almost entirely through Orbitz when I can get a general public promotion discount + an Orbitz discount. The rate is far better than any discount that Disney releases to annual pass holders or the general public, and I earn rewards to future travel. Plus, the inventory has almost always been better than what I find through Disney. You do need to be on top of knowing when things come out, however, so you get ensure that you have the greatest selection of discounted inventory.

Remember offers are on current inventory. Why would they discount your room type if you already reserved it? Pins and offers are really meant for new bookings, not giving discounts to whoever booked. If more of us didn't fall for the book early trap there would be a lot more offers.

Let's say for simplicity that YC has 5 garden, five lagoon, and three club level rooms for your dates. People have booked all 5 garden views, 3 lagoon, and one club before the discount. disney only sees the need to discount 2 lagoon and two club rooms. Discounts come out and two people with garden modify and scoop up and upgrade to the discounted lagoon rooms. Their rooms go back in inventory as rack rooms, not discount rooms. You then call and all they have to offer is club.

I have a stay in a suite at AOA booked with friends - partially in "spring" and partially in "summer" discounts with my AP. We are unable to apply discounts to both parts of the reservation. We have the spring AP discount applied, and availability shows for the remainder (same suite theme) with summer AP applied, but when they try to book it, the first part of the reservation changes to "family suite". Supposedly this is "new".

You just book two reservations. Modify your current reservation to include only your spring dates. Then make a new reservation for your summer offer dates. This is the only way to get a discount when your dates bridge seasons.

That is what I have done in the past.... But it will not work now. When the first reservation is modified the room choice is lost.

Won't work any ore with the new mod policies, apparently. Or at least it may not.

Sounds like the room type is unavailable for the summer offer. Offers seem to be more limited than ever.

I would keep checking. I was booked in a standard room at CBR, and tried to add the room discount the first day that the summer discount was released. Nothing was available at CBR or POR (we are a party of 5). I kept checking daily, and eventually the standard room at CBR became available, and I was able to add the summer discount. In fact, I was able to just modify the existing reservation online through My Disney Experience account.

I have noticed this a lot as well that discounts are for the higher priced rooms. I was only able to get a higher prices room for the AP rates but then again, we waited a long imd to book but only suites were available. I also tried the same timeframe as you for EPCOT resorts and there was nothing. I think SWW may have something to do with availability as well.
