Oh my. I feel for you so much. You sound so frustrated and I can so relate to what you are saying. I was very overweight all my life. I tried all kinds of diets with some being more successful than others.
It's hard when you are a picky eater too. When you say you eat right, exactly what do you mean? I found that when I cut out the junk it makes such a difference.
Okay, I'm bearing my soul here but maybe it will help you a little to understand where I'm coming from. I can go off on eating binges when I'm not careful. Actually, I've been on one for the past year but that's a post for a different thread. These past few weeks I ate so much junk (cookies, candy, McDonalds, chocolaty cereals, did I mention cookies?) that I actually gained 7 pounds. I said enough is enough on Monday, cut all that junk out, including eating late at night and I'm already down 2.4 pounds in just three days. I'm amazed how well my body will respond to putting the right foods in my body and exercise (I work out twice a day).
My point is (now that I have rambled on) is that if we had a better idea of what you're eating, we might be able to help you out with some suggestions. How are your portions? Do you eat a lot of foods that contain much salt? Do you eat late at night? It helps when you eat 5 or 6 smaller meals per day. Even as a picky eater, I can't see anyway around a healthy diet. I never thought I'd be saying this as a former veggie hater but diets rich in whole grains, healthy fat, fruits, veggies and lean meats is pretty hard to beat.
Please don't think nothing will make you skinny. That really made me sad when I read it because I used to say the same thing about myself. I'm turning 40 soon and realized something - I don't want to be skinny, I just want to be healthy, fit and comfortable in my own skin. I feel like I should put that line in my siggy because I say it so often. But it's true. Maybe if you (and all the rest of us) focus on becoming fit and healthy and take the emphasis off actual weight loss, we will feel less pressure and the weight will come off naturally.
I'm sure you'll get lots of great advice from others. I probably shouldn't be offering advice at all. I lost 109 pounds over an 18 period about 3 years ago and packed back on 36 pounds in the last year but I am determined to get back to where I was. I know I can do it and I know you can do it too!
You have to find a way of eating that you can live with. Maybe someone will correct me if I am wrong but I have found that old fashioned eating less calories combined with moving your body more is the key.
One final word (I'm sure you'll be glad to know I'm almost done!): I know that I have spent alot of time this past year convincing myself that I was doing my best just because I was exercising pretty much everyday. I do think exercise is an important component for weight loss but it's not the cure all for eating too much food. I think (again my own humble opinion) losing weight is 80% what you eat and 20% moving your body. You have to take in less calories than your body needs (a good rule of thumb I have read is 10 times your goal weight). I don't pretend to have all the answers but your post resonated something deep with me that I just had to share with you my experiences. I hope something I said helps you out and just wait other WISHers will be on line soon to offer their suggestions and encouragement.
I WISH you all the best in your journey!
