OK, I have to admit I don't understand all the comments about not liking fruit cake. Here in the UK fruit cake is a big thing. Do we use a different recipe to you guys as all my family and friends love fruit cake. Every year my mum makes a traditional Christmas fruit cake which is yummy (actually she has to make several for various family members.) When I got married I had a traditional 4 tier fruit cake as did all my family and friends. The cake my mum makes has various mixed fruits in it and is soaked in rum too. It is very moist yet not too soggy.
Where I am from in England it is traditional to eat your fruit cake with a slice of Wensleydale cheese (kind of white and crumbly.) As that is how we serve fruit cake my southers friends have ended up trying this over the years and now all my friends have cheese with their fruit cake too.
It's a shame I can't send some fruit cake and cheese to you all that my mum makes as I am sure you would change your mind when you eat it.
When I am in WDW on Chrstmas day there will be 3 things I am going to miss: 1 - My mums christmas cake, 2 - some Christmas pudding with rum sauce, 3 - Not having a christmas cracker to pull before my christmas dinner.
