How many people who are "against Frozen in Norway" are also against Aladdin and Jasmine in Morocco? Because Morocco is in north west Africa, 3000 miles away from the Arabian peninsula in eastern Asia where the Aladdin myth originated from, not only is it the wrong country, it's the wrong continent. So why isn't anybody opposed to Disney's Aladdin meeting and greeting in Disney's Morocco pavilion, at Disney's Epcot theme park, in Orlando Florida, U.S.A.? Aladdin and Jasmine have been hanging around the Morocco pavilion for a few decades now along with all the other Disney characters in World Showcase, so it's not like this is something new

The Frozen movie is at least influenced by Norwegian culture, language, and architecture, which would lead most rational people to the conclusion that the fictional city of Arendelle is supposed to be set in the country of Norway, the same way most people seem understand that Batman's fictional city of Gotham, and Superman's fictional city of Metropolis, are both supposed to be in the United States of America. I mean has anyone ever been confused as to whether or not Superman was pro America? So pretty please people, stop acting like Disney's fictional Frozen ride, can't in any way ever be a part of Disney's artificial Norway, located in Disney's Orlando Florida theme park, when in "the real world" the Frozen movie has been so popular it increased tourism to the actual country on Norway

I liked Maelstrom, although I liked at lot more when they bothered to keep all the special effects up and running, but I highly doubt anyone ever went to Epcot just to see Maelstrom. No one ever waited an hour and a have to ride it like they do to ride Soarin', when it was new I waited 45 mins to get on Maelstrom, but even then it wasn't one of Epcot's greatest rides, it was simply "something to do in World Showcase". The only thing wrong with Maelstrom is that it got old and it was as popular as it used to be, but there's no reason to believe that spending $75million on Maelstrom would some how restore its original popularity, which only lasted for a few years anyway

People aren't opposed because that doesn't overtake the entire pavilion like frozen is. A meet and greet in a small area is much different than a ride and brand new meet and greet building being built in Norway.

Yes, they referenced common SCANDINAVIAN ( not just Norwegian) design elements when they made Frozen. But I don't think most rational people would conclude that the fictional KINGDOM (not city) of Arendelle was supposed to be set in the country of Norway. Or Sweden, or Denmark. Or Finland. It's a fictional land.

Jasmine and Aladdin are just character M&Gs. They have to meet somewhere. And they haven't replaced or superceded anything in the Moroccan Pavilion itself.

I understand "why" people are opposed to it, I think it's ridiculous "to be" opposed to it, because it's not really Norway, it's a warehouse in Orlando

Epcot itself is a Fictional place

What I am going to say on this this. Disney does what is best for Disney. If Disney finds something not so popular they will close it down for something more popular. Frozen will bring people to Epcot and I can't wait to see what it does. If we want to talk about things that don't belong in Norway i would like to point out that there is a restraint that has belle, cinderella, snow white, aurora, ariel. all in which do not belong in Norway. i have faith that Disney will do what is best for Disney and what is best for us. I can't wait to go on the ride.

Making the AK park the first to rely 100% on renewable energy would be keeping in line with stated goals for the park.

Avatar provides a visually rich alien environment which fit's one of AK's original intentions which was to showcase real as well as imaginary animals. Endor has alien life but the environment looks exactly like one we have here on Earth. What make Avatar such a good fit goes beyond the environment. The central theme of Avatar is living in harmony with and the protection of the natural world and the consequence of not doing so which fits in very well with AK.

Here is the dedication message AK:

"Welcome to a kingdom of animals... real, ancient and imagined: a kingdom ruled by lions, dinosaurs and dragons; a kingdom of balance, harmony and survival; a kingdom we enter to share in the wonder, gaze at the beauty, thrill at the drama, and learn."

The bolded words all fit very well with Avatar.
I could share my essay against Avatar again if you'd like. I have some new thoughts since D23 and more details have been released. That up their is a shallow interpretation of DAK that fits on a plaque. It doesn't capture some of the very obvious themes of DAK sticking out for anyone to see.

It's supposed to be a representation of Norway not frozenland. Based on Frozens success it deserves an e ticket in MK or at least DHS not Epcot.

How can anyone compare a small meet and greet to fictional princesses taking over a restaurant and ride and museum and at least part of a shop? Wow, that's a stretch.

But this horse has been beaten senseless. I'll just add that if you are OK with it then good for you. For what it's worth I never will be.

While we were there last week, I spoke to a CM in Norway and was discussing Frozen and she indicated that there is an actual town of Arendal - different spelling but it exists.

Arendal
Town in Norway
Arendal is a town and municipality in the county of Aust-Agder, Norway. Arendal belongs to the region of Sørlandet. The town of Arendal is the administrative center of the municipality and also of Aust-Agder county.

Interesting. Looking at photos of Arendal, it's not a stretch to compare the two.

How does FP+ work for a new ride? Do FP+ windows open when the ride opens, or 60 days out from when they have a firm enough opening date?

For the mine train FP+ reservations didn't start until the opening day of the attraction. They did a lot of soft openings and stuff prior to the opening date but FP didn't start until that date.

I realllllyyyy hope it's open when I visit - 22 May - 5 June, however I bet the queues will be crazy!

Then...to be honest...you don't get the original concept of Epcot.

It was exposure to real things through Disney's eyes...in this case technology - both past and present - and a "taste"...very loosely...of foreign cultures. A premenant world's fair. It worked fine when they put dollars into it to maintain it.

Arrendale belongs in MGM...it's a cheapskate, shortsighted way to try and suck the princess crowd into a neglected park.
