Anyone go recently to see Frozen at the Hyperion in DCA? I see the show will be playing at 3 and 5 on the day I will be there with my family
(12/11). I know there is a lunch we could buy to get premium seating but I’d prefer not go that route. I’m wondering what time we would need to line up to get decent seats? (I’d really love to try to get front mezzanine if possible). Any advice would be much appreciated.

I'd get there at least 30 minutes in advance, or else head over soon after the park opens and see if there are CMs booking reserved seating. They've been doing that as a "trial" lately, and it's a limited number of (free) reserved seats for each show.

When we decide to see the show, we use waiting in line as a time to eat lunch or snack break.
If things haven't changed food is even allowed in the theater.

I'd try for the signup reserved seating.
I like to enter through this door ( X ) because there are no stairs. For a nice easy view we like to sit in the first row where the red line is.
There is a walkway right in front and the view is basically unobstructed. With the half wall there it is a good spot for frigidity kids during the show.

We were there last week at park opening. I didn’t see a line to sign up. I came back about 30 minutes before the 3pm show (probably less) and walked right into mezzanine 4 th row middle area. I had 2 empty seats on my side. It was an entertaining show but it stopped 3x due to technical difficulties which kind of took us out of the story. I enjoyed the Frozen sing a long better at WDW. It was a good show but I’m glad I had 5 days at the park and didn’t have to miss too much park touring time to see it.

We were in the area at rope drop last Friday but nowhere to sign up for reserved seating. It was a fairly busy day so we got there at 2 for the 3 PM show. That was earlier than we needed to be there. We sat just a few rows back in the middle of the Orchestra section.

We sat in the balcony on our last trip and had a beautiful view of all the special effects, but enjoyed being so close this time.

We did the 5pm show on Saturday and arrived 30 min prior. We had seats in the upper orchestra, middle section. There were people arriving last minute that got equally good seats I think.
I enjoyed what we saw of it, but of course my 4yo had to use the bathroom (again) 15 minutes in and we decided not to try to go back in. FYI there is no bathroom at the theatre.

We did the 12pm show twice during Thanksgiving week and arrived 45min before show. We brought a snack or lunch both times to eat while in line and they let you in about 25 min before the show. It worked out good for us and didn't seem like to long of a wait, have fun!!

We saw the 12pm show last Saturday and we were there about 30 mins before it started and got great seats.

I don't remember Aladdin having so many "Technical Difficulties"????

We have seen it a few times now. Each time there have been technical difficulties.
It defiantly takes away from the overall performance.

It is a nice way to take a break in a cool place for those long warm days in the park.

Wow thanks everyone for the great suggestions with when to line up and also using the time waiting to eat, the novice side of me is still learning how to multi-task :)
