Depends on how it is packaged.
If beef is packaged in some sort of airtight container - whatever that may be - and most of the air removed, it will last months.
I grew up on a cattle ranch and we raised our own beef, so to speak. The butcher would package it up, and we would have beef for months and months.
My DW just recently bought one of those Food Saver vacuum sealers. That is a wonderful thing to have around.
