How many of you purchase frozen food while staying in a studio? Thinking of things like breakfast sandwiches or hot pockets...would they be okay not frozen?

I defrost those Jimmy Dean breakfast sausage croissants before microwaving anyways, so I would say it's fine if it's something along those lines to just store in the fridge. I mean, you are gonna eat it all up soon anyways in a few days.

But when I stay at a studio, I usually have leftovers from wherever I got dinner from the night before, and that becomes my breakfast.

Great3

^ I agree on both things. I think the frozen things will be ok if they stay cold, and we too usually have left overs for breakfast!

Enjoy your stay!

I can see eating something that thaws in about 1-2 days max. On the other hand, if I remember correctly some of the stores like Screen Door at Boardwalk sell hot pockets, so if I wanted that for breakfast or lunch, I would get it there. Sometimes I have picked up something simple like that for under $5 rather than paying $10 for a sandwich from BW Bakery, especially if my appetite was not great, but I needed to just eat something.

Our last fridge in our OKW studio has a small freezer. Made some ice for our drinks. It was nice to have ice cold drinks. We always bring ice cube trays just in case.

Not all studio mini-fridges have the little freezer section, some are just a refrigerator. I agree with the poster that said buy some at home, store them in the fridge, and see if they are OK. Most of the frozen breakfast sandwich type things are pretty well pre-cooked.

I think having frozen food in the fridge rather than the freezer might affect its shelf life. You may want to try it at home before doing so at Disney.

In addition to shelf life, you need to consider how thawing in the fridge will affect the quality of the product. For instance, a Hot Pocket's crust will become soggy if thawed out first. Microwaving it then produces a rather tough crust that might not be appealing.

I have stored Hot Pockets and Jimmy Dean breakfast sandwiches in the fridge for several days while staying at the poly and Vero beach, and have had no issues. You may have to trim a few seconds off the microwave cook time.

Dang I was hoping it had a freezer. I’ll have a frozen gel pack on the way down for my medicine but it will be thawed so no way to refreeze it. Also means no Mickey bars. They sell them at Publix and I like to have a box.

If you are in a Deluxe Studio, you should have a dorm size fridge with tiny freezer. Call Housekeeping if you have only a beverage cooler.

PS this thread is 2 1/2 years old. You might want to start a new thread and include the name of your resort, because things have changed since 2021!
