Frozen Ever After a pretty short ride?

It's being built on the same structure as Maelstrom, right? I watched Maelstrom on Youtube and see that it is about a 3-3.5 minute ride. Is that really enough time to do justice to Frozen? Or are they somehow extending it?

Pretty sure I've seen that the ride is the exact same length of Maelstrom. It's short, but so are other rides. Peter Pan's Flight is only about 2:30. The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh clocks in around 3 minutes.

I heard it will be a little longer, they took out the theater and the load and unload will be on the same platform.

I am setting my expectations extremely low for this attraction. So far, everything I have seen in regards to Frozen in the parks has been extremely underwhelming and forced.

It is for the loading and unloading of wheelchairs or those who need extra time. Since it is an omni-mover if 1 car stops all cars stop.

I think 3-3:30 will be fine. Maelstrom was a great ride and they'll just hit the highlights of Frozen.

Yeah, I heard it will be about 30-45 seconds longer than Maelstorm.

I accept your explanation but it doesn't seem to happen with that much frequency on say, the Haunted Mansion or Spaceship Earth....aren't they omnimovers too?

Haunted Mansion it happens (at least to me) once every ride. Spaceship earth the load at a different spot with the hopes that they are able to get loaded with only having to slow down the ride. For both they have to transfer but in Voyage there is no need to transfer since there are 2 (perhaps 3) specialty cars where the wheelchair can be put on and then locked down. I believe it is that process that sometimes takes longer than expected.

I just wonder if Disney has anticipated the queue wait times. The old queue is WAY too short for what I anticipate as lines wrapping around and down the street.

You're lucky! We've ridden the Little Mermaid probably a dozen times since it opened and we've NEVER gotten through it without stopping at least once and hearing Sebastian's announcement. Although, I don't remember if it stopped when we rode it at DCA....

SSE used to stop so often that I made a game out of it. Guess where you'll be when it stops. Can't play it so much now that they removed half the scenes. Works on Haunted Mansion and Little Mermaid though.

We rode it twice and no stops.

Happens to me every haunted mansion and usually every spaceship earth.

I always wondered why Disney continues to build NEW rides this way? You can have the best of both worlds and have a continuous ride (like HM) mixed with an alternative loading dock (like TSM). They have been doing the same thing more or less in warehousing for 40 years. That way you can keep the passenger flow, but allow plenty of time for wheelchair / handicap access. They board a car separately, and when that car is ready to go, the track separates to make room for it and link it in. Same thing happens at the exit.

I've wondered the same thing. There was even times that the old queue was backed up, I can't imagine what it would be like with all the Frozen fans trying to get in there.
