Fortunately they abandoned the idea of the "window-shade service fee" -- you don't pay it, the window shade doesn't open.

I wouldn't put it past airlines at some point in the future.

NOT APRIL 1st story year's ago one the companies who designs aircraft interiors designed standing room. It was.a proof of concept. Passengers would lean against a slightly reclined padded rest and would be secured by auto style shoulder seat belts.

The intended use would be short flights between islands.Alternative to ferry. Emergency evacuation.

No interest. It was never submitted to the FAA or other regulatory bodies

As PP said not an April fool day thing really - Ryan air likes to put these things out there just to get people talking about them.
Charging to use the bathroom, standing seats, one pilot per plane, one bathroom per plane, removing the arm rests, gambling using your phone, etc...
They never really plan to do most of these things.
They have admitted that they do it for the publicity, but if they could do some of these things they probable would.
