We've only been to DCA once right after it opened - I seem to remember someone posted tips for getting the front row then - but I don't remember if there was a special line. Any info?

We were just there. When you get to the next to final waiting area, where you can see the tv screens and the 4 lines on your left, ask the cm for the front line. They just count off the right number of people for each row. I saw lots of people ask for certain rows.

Does it make a difference we sat in the first row and not in the first and I didn't notice. What is the difference do you see more?

I've noticed that in the front row you get the best feeling of simulation because you don't see anyone's feet, but in the third you you get a greater sense of speed and accelration. My overall preference is to sit in any row of the middle section so I don't see the edges of the screen as much.

Hi Cats Mom,

Ask for Hangar B, Row 1. You'll be in the center section in
the first row. You won't be disappointed. The cast members
will let you wait for it.

I have a tough time on simulators because there is nothing stationary to look at when I'm queasy. Will this ride make me ill or is there something you can look at that doesn't move?

For instance - I can't do Star Tours, or Back to the Future, because everything I can see is moving - but I can do Spider Man, because I can look at the ceiling or the stationary walls if I start feeling sick. Will I be able to do this?

Because I don't suffer from motions sickness I can't say whether or not it will make you sick. I can tell you that the ride takes place in a large stationary theater, so you will be able to look at a stationary wall. The ride is MUCH less intense than Star Tours or Body Wars. I hope you are able to enjoy it, it's my favorite!!!

Maybe try for row three on the side. That way you can focus on the bottom of the sceen or other objects

If motion sickness is a problem....I probably wouldn't ride this. I get a little quesy with heights....it did bother me a bit. You really aren't moving much as far a motion simulators go, but you really feel like you are flying. If flying like a bird makes you ill to think about, it might not be for you. If you aren't looking at the screen, there wouldn't really be much to the attraction.....it is one you don't want to keep your eyes closed for. I didn't need Dramimine for this, but I did have a death grip on the handles which amused my children no end!! The picture never stops...you are swooping and soaring....it is a really inventive ride.

I can help...I think. I get motion sickness on loads of things. No more Star tours or Body Wars. I can barely do coasters and when I get off I am nauseous ( but I still do them sometimes). No spinning rides. Almost all of Soaring over California is handleable. The is a part in Yosemite where we bank to the right and I close my eyes for 8-10 seconds. There is a part near the end where you see the big ships in San Diego and the camera makes some big banked turnes and I can not handle that so I close my eyes.
In general there is not anywhere you can look to escape the image. You can look down at your lap or up at the canopy above you but your periferal will still get the movement. If you sat on the very end near the edge of the screen you could turn your head and probably do okay.

I have a such a love/hate relationship with this ride. My DD4 loves it! I first sat in the first row and it felt fine.

Second time, I was in the last row. I came THISCLOSE to screaming for it to stop ! It just felt like I was slanted downward and had the feeling of "I'm gonna fall" and it made me so ill! I had to shut my eyes (crying) just so I wouldn't scream "make it stop!"

But on the first row, I felt tilted up, towards the sky and felt more secured, I was just swinging my feet and felt safer and enjoyed it.

It is incredible!
