I know this sounds like a Transportation Board thread, but it's really a general interest poll (not a thread asking specific transportation questions) because I'm interested in everyone's opinions, and this board gets the most traffic! :)

I'm wondering which part of the plane you all prefer. I'm talking about the 757's which are ALL considered coach, no first class. On the Song planes, they've taken the former first class section and put in the same sized seats as coach.

However, when I go to www.seatguru.com and check out the info under Delta, for Song's 757 plane, they're basically saying those few rows in the front of the plane are "nice coach seats, you are in the smaller and quieter cabin". Would any of you consider this to be a plus?? We're a family of 4...DH, myself, and DSs ages 16 and 13. They're not loud, probably will have their headphones and Gameboys with them for the flight, so it's not as if I have to worry about them making noise and disturbing the other flyers, like I might if they were very young.

We currently are booked in the middle of the plane, row 18. But the plane has almost every other seat still available, so now I'm debating whether to change our seats to one of those front rows or not.

So...please vote in my poll! Where do you like to sit on the plane (remember, I'm taking about an ALL-coach plane, non-emergency seat rows, just regular rows)...and why?? Are there advantages to being in the front or back or middle?

Thanks!! :)

I know this sounds completely ridiculous and it is but we sit in the back because I feel like if the plane nose dives and crashes, we have a better chance of surviving. Completely silly reasoning but I've always done it.

the back, so I could look for terrorist

I'm not laughing at all because I think exactly the same way!! LOL I chose the middle because I just think it's "safer" even though it's probably not!! LOL The front will crash in a nose dive, and the back could break off completely...so in my warped mind, THAT is why the middle is safe. :teeth:

yes, take me, I also do laundry (when not looking for terrorist)

I could not find Song Airline on that link. You did exclude exit rows, but that is where I almost always sit, extra legroom. At 6'6", legroom is next most important to getting there. And if the back end falls off, the middle is going with it, LOL.

Definitely as close to the front as I can get without being like within the first 2 rows.
I am flying tomorrow...trying not to think about it or i'll get nervous.

Well Dan you've just ruined my "the middle is the safest place" theory!! :p

I found Song's 757 All-Couch under "Delta" at the top of that site. Here's a link to the plane we'll be flying on: http://www.seatguru.com/delta/B757SONG.shtml

I don't blame you for wanting as much legroom as you can get! I don't think I've realized how tall you are!! We can't go into an exit row because of DS12 (13 when we fly) not being old enough. They told us that EVERYONE in the row had to be a certain age, 16 I think. DS15 (16 when we fly), and DH and I would qualify, but younger DS wouldn't....so....that's why an exit row isn't an option for us. Eventually it will be, though...in a few years :teeth:

I don't really care where I sit, as long as I have an aisle seat :)

I'm assuming you're flying home tomorrow, to the Cape? Which airport, Logan? Try not to think about it; before you know it, you'll be home, all safe and sound, ready for winter vacation :)

Have a safe flight!! :)

Flying into Providence.
I leave the dorm at 6 am and should be on the ground in Providence at 11:15 for 2 weeks home.

I have flown 4 times in the past 2 months...the same exact route yet i still get nervous everytime i fly...and that is 2 flights per time...so really i have been on 8 flights.

1 A, B, or C would be my choice. Sounds nice.

Enjoy the flight home, Norah, and Merry Christmas to you and your family. :wave2:

If you want to get off the plane quicker, sit at the front.

I don't mind where I sit as long as it is not right over the wing, when I look out of the window I want to see something, not the wing.

I ride in the back under the ridiculous premise that planes don't back into mountains. But when you get right down to it, I don't think they have crumple zones either so even if it hits nose first, the back will probably end up in about the same condition as the front.... :( (Im a nervous flyer!)

I liked those too Dan but they are already taken on my flight :( Also, we are a party of 4 so we like to get 4 seats all in a row. 3 together, then the next aisle seat so we're basically together. We let DSs take a turn each with the window seat, then DH and I each take an aisle seat. I was thinking maybe row 2 or 3, seats A,B,C, and D.

Good point! I am definitely going to change our seats. Currently we're right in the middle, right over the center of the wing. Just have to decide which direction to go in! I'm thinking the front because it might seem less crowded and I can get a bit claustrophobic at times, although it's never been a problem on a plane before.

Planes don't back into mountains, now that sound logical to me. LOL I am a nervous flyer too, although I do an excellent job of hiding it from DSs. DH knows how nervous I can get though, and he's good at keeping my mind off of things while we're flying.

Middle, right where the wing is. Whenever I fly it seems I end up there, so now I like sitting there just because it's what I'm used to lol
