From ZERO to HERO - The October 2015 W.I.S.H. Challenge

Happy FRIDAY EVE, guys and gals! I hope we are all having wonderful, productive, positive weeks. Don't forget, it's your last chance to get some extra hustle in before our 3rd round of weigh-ins this weekend! We are now OFFICIALLY HALFWAY THROUGH our challenge!!! How have you been doing the last 2 weeks? Have you stuck to your plan? Or has life gotten the better of you?

QOTD for Thursday, October 15, 2015

mid-monthcheck-in.png

Take a look back over your choices, your situations, and your progress for the last two weeks. What have been your successes? What have been your hurdles? Is there anything in your plan that you can look at and say "Yes, this is working for me" or "No, this is not working for me"? Hint - if your plan included "walking 30 minutes every day" and you haven't walked at all, then that is NOT working for you! Take this opportunity to really evaluate your progress to this point, to vent about things that aren't working or have gotten in your way, and to pat yourself on the back and share your success stories with us! Are you on track to hit your goal this month? Or do you need to adjust?

I have very little chance to hit my goal for the month. I will easily meet my exercise goal for the month but the weight isn't coming off as fast as I hoped it would. I will modify my goal next month but I'm not letting this get me down or derail my efforts.

I'm slowly starting to catch up!

We managed to succeed pretty well on our to-do list -- but nearly had a heart attack. So Disney changed their mind (again) and all of the Premium Annual Pass giftcards are now being recognized only for dollar value and we were told differently on the AP phone line on Monday. (ie: The Premuim Annual Pass giftcards would be grandfathered in as Signature Plus, don't worry!) Somehow we worked it out that we'd get the 'old pricing' for Premier since that's all we wanted buy and it's technically not a Disneyland-specific pass.

Now we're labeled as "Premier Domestic Annual Pass - Shell" in the system. I have no idea what that means, but it works and gets us to Disney for the next year.... which we just reserved two more small trips to Disney World. One for my graduation (May 23-28) at the Port Orleans Riverside in a Princess Room and the other for my birthday at the Beach Club next September for Food/Wine and MNSSHP. Turns out we are going to get our money's worth with this pass for all the agony we went through. :rotfl2:

Saving the bounce-back offer for next Christmas with our december trip. Just easier to book these other ones now since we're needing a room only. Starting in November of next year we'll be sans annual pass and just going to Disney World for Christmas once per year.

Yikes! I can't believe that it is so complicated! Disney never does make anything easy where tickets are concerned.... But what am amazing fun Disney filled 2016 you have coming up!!!

I love this QOTD! I am struggling with wasting too much time on useless stuff. And then I lack quality time for real things. I used to read so much and now I spend so much time looking at stupid things on the internet (I don't count this thread to be useless, but some of my DIS time is certainly totally superfluous). So, I made an effort to get into reading recently. And I think my plan is that both Saturday and Sunday I will sit on my lovely sofa with my kindle and continue reading my book!!

So proud of you!!! Congratulations!!

:banana::banana::banana::banana::banana::banana::banana::banana::banana::banana::banana::banana::banana::banana::banana::banana::banana::banana::banana::banana::banana::banana::banana::banana::banana::banana::banana:

It seems that taking some pressure of you and deciding to just maintain this month really helped you!

What a funny story about the struggle with the phone wait!! :rotfl: And you look really great and happy in that picture! I love it when people post pictures as it is so nice to be able to put a fact to the screen name!

I hope you enjoyed your restful, book-filled weekend and the cold has gone away!

Happy Friday to all my new friends! I had a great weigh in....I've lost 5 of the seven pounds I gained on vacation....Whoohoo! I may even be able to get an actual loss this month, which would be great. I've been digging in really deep and it has really helped. This weekend I'm going shopping for Balsamic Vinegars, attending a play this evening at our BRAND NEW THEATER in WHITE RIVER JUNCTION, VT. Tomorrow is DEAD NORTH....lots of walking through the haunted corn maze (and running....lol!) Does screaming expend energy, if so.....I'll be doing lots of that! Sunday is just chillin'. Monday is a lunch with former co-workers....hence, dealing with the homemade food goodies! I've done okay the last two times....did eat a bit too much on the last one....but not off the charts. I will do a mantra all the way over there....."You look good. You feel good. I will control the food...the food will not control me!" Everyone have a great weekend!

Woohoo on slaying that vacation weight! I love how much fun you pack into your life. :)

I'm happy to report my WW weigh-in today-- down 1.2 pounds/goal this month is 5lbs! Slow and steady! That's almost 25% to goal!

This weekend I'm headed to the Jersey shore with my hubby. My daughter and her boyfriend will join us for a weekend of walks, bike rides, music, and wine!

Great loss! How are you liking WW? It is so helpful to me!

CONGRATULATIONS! That is great!

Wow! That is a huge loss-- you really did dig deep!

Vent away! This is a great sounding board. Feel better soon!

Woohoo on the progress towards goal!!! Congratulations!

SO, what do you do when there is LITERALLY no work left to be done, and you have an hour remaining before you can go home? Catch-up-palooza, DUH! I technically need to make up as many hours from being out Monday as I can, so that less PTO is used to cover it, so that more PTO will go on my final check.... But that would mean staying until 7pm, when all of our work has been done since 3pm, and I don't know how much I'm feeling that today! Haha. Just not sure the extra $30 is worth it in the end.

So sorry I didn't make it back around last night! I ended up making some great progress on one of the bigger wedding crafts, so yay! Definitely feeling good about that one. Hopefully it will be 100% checked off the list by the end of the weekend.:woohoo:

No apologies for missing any amount of time! We love our die-hard junkies AND our causal visitors equally! :love1: Do you at least get to travel anywhere fun or exotic? Do you actually get to SEE the places you travel? Or is it all airport hotels and office buildings? Congrats on making it through your step aerobics even though you didn't want to do it at all! That's one of my biggest challenges, so I commend you!!!

Can I come be your neighbor?? I want to diet and exercise like you! Haha. I feel like I would be a lot more successful if my walking path were a Disney park.

In exciting news, I have a job interview this Tuesday afternoon! A long-time friend of mine is a hair stylist at a day spa here in town, and I was there Wednesday afternoon, so I filled out an application for their front desk, just for them to keep on file... I was the front office manager at a hotel for a couple of years, and managed a tanning salon for a couple of years before that, so I've got some experience answering phones at desks. I actually met with the manager that night - me with deep conditioner and a shower cap on my head, and her with foil and red hair dye on hers. :rotfl: At least that means she couldn't judge me for my appearance, right? LOL. Turns out they had JUST filled the position they had open, but they weren't 100% sure if that girl was going to work out or not. Well, got a call today that sure enough, that position is open again! So YAY!

Every little bit counts, so here is some pre-weigh-in pixie dust, too!! Hoping for good things! pixiedust:pixiedust:pixiedust:

:bday:

Congrats on your 45% progress! You are on a GREAT pace this month - I know FOR SURE you will hit that 4lbs! Now go and enjoy EVERY SINGLE BITE of those fair foods! Have a bite of funnel cake for me! ;)

I don't run. Do. Not. Run.

That would've made me run.

:rotfl2:

I don't know about you, since you're a runner, but an extra 3 minutes for me would be HUGE, so YAY for you and your extra minutes!!! I hope you were able to get some good rest last night!

Thank you! I'll find that post and update it. Can't wait to see where you stand this weekend!

HAHA, I know what you mean! This thread is not very ADD-friendly - you miss a day and another 12 pages have popped up! :rotfl: I LOVE it, though!

How are you liking the program so far? Have you gotten into it enough to really tell?

Have SO MUCH FUN this weekend! I am so jealous of your Newsies tickets! It's coming here in December but we won't get to see it, and I'm heartbroken! ENJOY everything you do this weekend and don't waste a second worrying about that glass of wine. Wine is good for you! Just maybe don't have 2 bottles yourself...

Oh no! So sorry the little cheats have been worming their way in!!

OK, forget it. I don't want to be your neighbor anymore. Can you adopt me?! Haha. THREE visits to WDW next year, plus DL whenever you want! That's so exciting. I'm 1,000,000,000,000% jealous. You will LOVE POR. My family & I stayed at POFQ a few years ago and it was SUCH a nice place! DH2B is from New Orleans so we had looked into staying at PO again for our Disneymoon, but ended up at the Dolphin. I love Beach Club, too! You are such good hotel pickers. Where will you be in December?? Any ideas?

Thank you for stopping by, even if just for a moment! Hope your day was a GOOD kind of busy - no leaky sinks or anything this time! ;)

You are welcome to vent ANY time!! I'm SO sorry you're having a rough go of it at the moment. Is there anything I/we can do to help?? Good for you for having the determination to get out and walk and do what you had to in order to be where you needed to be! As much as they aren't any fun at all, it's the choices like THAT that make the big difference. It's easy to get up and walk when you WANT to, and when you feel good, and when the weather's nice, and when you have free time... But it's a completely different thing to MAKE YOURSELF get up a do it, no matter what time, or how you feel, or what's going on. Good for you, and SO glad you didn't just say "I made poor food choices today, so it's already busted, and I won't worry about walking, I'll just do better tomorrow" because that is a DANGEROUS, dangerous trap to fall into! SO PROUD OF YOU!!

:cheer2::cheer2::cheer2::cheer2::cheer2::cheer2::cheer2::cheer2::cheer2::cheer2::cheer2::cheer2::cheer2::cheer2::cheer2::cheer2::cheer2::cheer2:

YAY! I LOVE READING! What do you think you might read? I, too, need to carve out more time to read instead of scrolling through Facebook or binge-watching Netflix. It's been too long since I've just read for fun... But some superfluous DIS-time is ok, too. ;) ENJOY your you-time this weekend!!!

Congratulations on already dumping most of that vacation weight! So that puts you at 71.4% of your goal for October, yes? Have fun at the corn maze! We went to ours last year, and it was ok, but I probably wouldn't go back... Ours is set up so that there are questions at every junction and what direction you go depends on which answer to the question you pick - obviously the right answer will lead you down the right path. We tried really hard to play, but there were SO many teenagers just running and screaming through the maze that it was really difficult. That, and, I was NOT a fan of the guys with the chainsaws... They had taken the actual chains off of them, but they were REAL chainsaws, you could smell the gas and everything, and they'd walk right up to you and put the chainsaw almost up to your neck or your leg or your arm and act like they were cutting you apart. NOT my idea of "fun scary". Who knows when one of those guys would think he's being funny and put a chain back on the thing? Nope. Not a chance I want to take. :rotfl:

As a matter of fact, we left the corn maze saying how old it made us feel.... DH2B and I both walked through the majority of the maze saying "That can't be safe.", "That's not a good idea.", "That's a lawsuit waiting to happen.":laughing::laughing:

pixiedust: Pixie dust that your venture into the corn maze is MUCH better than ours was!

WE DID PINOT'S PALETTE FOR MY BACHELORETTE! It was the first time I'd ever done a class like that, and I am OBSESSED NOW! PLEASE post a picture of your painting when you're done with it!! I wonder if all the Pinot's paint the same things... There was a pumpkin painting we could have chosen for ours that was SO CUTE; I wonder if it's the same one!

SO SORRY about your AP-mess! I cringed when I saw the word "shell" in your description before. I didn't know what it meant, either, but it didn't sound good! AND to top it off, a phone CM told you you were good to go. :rotfl: I hope so much that 10 days from now you are 100% good to go!

:cool1: WAY TO GO, KATE!! You are doing a GREAT job - 25% after a week and a half is awesome progress!! I hope you have an AMAZING weekend at the shore with your family - love every minute of it!

SO SORRY for the lengthy post, BUT I think I'm caught up now!! We've got a pretty full weekend ahead of us - tonight we are planning to run a bunch of errands and will HOPEFULLY be able to buy EVERYTHING that we still have to buy for the wedding and the Disney trip. Fingers crossed that I don't have an anxiety attack from the amount of money I know we'll end up spending. :scared1: Maybe I'll get lucky and find a good sale, haha. I try not to buy anything full price if I can help it.. I'm not a crazy coupon lady by any means, but every little bit counts! Especially during a wedding, especially when you're facing a questionable period of time on one income LOL. I can't even explain the relief I felt this weekend when we FINALLY caved in and decided to get this box that we both loved for the wedding, but had said for months that we weren't going to get because I could craft something and it'd be cheaper and blahblahblah... It took probably 30 minutes for us to decide to get it, because we loved it, but didn't really love it $30 worth... DH2B finally convinced me to get it, so we get up to the register, and she scans it, and says "Oh, you know that's 50% off, right?" I think I heard angels sing. :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

I will definitely be around this weekend! Looking forward to chatting with you all some more!

I hope the job interview went well! And great pixie dust on the extra discount!!M

You'd make a fabulous sister - I'd love to adopt you! :P (I'm 32 and hubs is 34 - so we're not too old yet!) We're using and abusing not only the Disney Premier pass over the next year but the Tables in Wonderland membership. I'm okay with postponing Hawaii for this. Might as well try to live a little eh? While we're staying in the Contemporary for this December, we're not sure where we'd want to stay next year. We were thinking of either the Polynesian or the Grand Floridian. Hubs is pushing for the Grand Floridian so he'll have the Monorail Trifecta under his belt. He's got one hotel stay ahead of me from when he was a kid - I told him it didn't count! ;)

The Royal Room looked so cute at the POR. We wanted to be near Blizzard Beach, Typhoon Lagoon, and EPCOT, so it met all of our requirements. The price seemed amazing for the beautiful surroundings..

AP MESS HAS BEEN RESOLVED! (Hopefully? :confused3) I got even better service when I called back with the pass information. I got it done in an hour and now we're labeled as "Premier Annual Passport - CA Sale". From what they said the pass somehow didn't connect with our information... but it's done now and we're officially official. :rotfl2: Who knew these would be so ~dramatic~ to renew.

Yay for annual pass resolution!! Now on to the 2016 of fun!

Here's a wall hanging I put up in my office. It's a Halloween Trick or Treat snack quilt. Each of the 9 bags are filled with candy so coworkers can pick their treat when they need a little 'sweet encouragement' to get through the day.

There are many others at home, but I figured this one was the most 'fun' and relevant to the season.

kq1FMZT.jpg

That is beautiful!!

@ThistleMae How do you like those quest bars? Some girls eat them all the time at work and swear by them!

@JacknSally I've been weirdly in love in Newsies ever since I saw it on VHS like 100 years ago. I was basically just in love with Christian Bale I think lol! Super super excited to see it live though!

And I am liking the program more than I thought. Yes, its very challenging, but its doable and each workout is 30 minutes, which really helps. I tell myself I can do anything for 30 minutes and it's honestly true! Each workout is really different too-cardio, strength training, agility, yoga, etc. I think next month they'll add Pilates and kickboxing type workouts as well. I recommend so far!

To answer the QOTD, I like to sit on the deck on weekend mornings w/coffee and letting the puppy play. Usually I like to settle somewhere with a book (love to read!), but I'm in between books right now. Need to find a new one! And I need to stock up on books because it's getting colder up here. Once winter hits everyone pretty much hibernates until its safe to come out again! :sad2: That means lots and lots of reading time!

Will definitely give my progress report tomorrow after I weigh in! Good luck with your progress this weekend everyone! :goodvibes

Your weekend sounds a lot like my preferred weekend, albeit with coffee instead of tea!

I am sleeping in for once. I am also going to a back handspring clinic to work on my back handspring and I will feel a lot less stressed if I get it. I lost yet another pound and am at 40%.

Great job! I'm impressed with back handsprings!! I was never able to do more than a crooked cartwheel during my cheerleading days. :)

Morning friends! Happy weekend!!

Posting from my phone right now which is always a pain, so I'll come back later to make this pretty. :-)

QOTW for October 10 & 11, 2015

It's the weekend so I know several of us are looking at the what we'll be eating in the week ahead, so..

Let's see those yummy healthy recipes! It can be anything - crock pot meals, low carb, freeze ahead, detox water, soup, salad, whatever! Just keep it healthy. :-)

My favorite healthy recipe is a Mexican style vegetable soup that I make in enormous quantity. I'm not much of a recipe follower when it comes to soup because quantities don't really matter. I just cut up an onion, a few carrots, and a few ribs of celery and sauté in a bit of olive oil until soft. Salt and pepper. Stir in a can of tomatoes, a jar of enchilada sauce, and one or two diced red potatoes, sweet potatoes, or butternut squash. Add 2 quarts of vegetable or chicken broth, bring to boil, reduce heat and simmer for 30 minutes. Add 2 cans of drained beans, diced zucchini or corn, and a bunch of chopped chard or kale, simmer for another 30 minutes. Sometimes I leave out the beans and add shredded leftover chicken a few minutes before serving. Serve with a spoonful of plain yogurt, a bit of grated cheese, and one or two crushed tortilla chips on top. The last batch worked out to 5 WW points for a giant bowl with all of the toppings.

I like to flavor my water with a handful of frozen berries in lieu of ice. I find it fascinating that the raspberries bleach white by the end of the day.

My favorite recipe of all is my guacamole which is high in fat but of the good kind. I consider it healthy because it fills me up for hours. And I love guacamole beyond reason. 2 large avocados, 1-2 minced Serrano peppers, 1 minced tomatillo, 1/2 - 3/4 teaspoon salt, 3 tablespoons minced red onion, 3 tablespoons very finely chopped cilantro, and the juice of 1 lime.

I'm a good cook but I definitely need to work on lightening up my recipes. Most involve too much cheese and too many carbs. :)

Weigh-in Results - Week 2

Pounds lost: 3.5 of 5
Goal Progress: 70%

Sorry @DisPup75 - you're going to have to save my seat in the Overweight Club for another week. I am at 164.5 and needed to be at 164 or lower to get admitted this week. So close! I can't complain about a 1.5 pound loss though -- I'll be there soon with you! :)

Wow! 70% in two weeks is GREAT progress! You will get admitted this week!

Just need to share with people who will get it - I AM BUYING A SIZE 14 DRESS RIGHT NOW! AND I was able to fit into and zip a size 12! It was just a little more snug than i'd like. At the beginning of the summer I was in an 18!!

Yay!! Shrinking numbers are the best! I was hoping for a size 12 today too. I have an event tonight and the dress I wanted to wear is a size 12 and does indeed zip. But I can't breathe and oxygen is important to me. :)

View attachment 127973 Here is the dessert I'm making for tonight at my daughter's It's fresh strawberries with a touch of Splenda and drizzled with Chocolate balsamic vinegar. Mmmmm mmmm good! No baking, no fuss, no mess, whips up in an instant....all that....and healthy!

So beautiful!

Evening all! Wowza, did today ever get away from me! ANd yesterday too!

Good news..... DS FINALLY got his Driver's License yesterday!!!! WOOHOOO! Took a few tries, but he did it and I am SUPER excited for him (but of course, nervous for me!). But he is 17 1/2 and so ready for this!

I spent yesterday (after the DMV appointment) running crazy errands trying to get all the parts and pieces that DS wants/needs for his FANDOM day costume during spirit week at school next week. And then today was a marketing/cooking day. I JUST finished cleaning up dinner. I made another casserole for the freezer for the men to eat while I'm away (a new recipe... hope it's good!), plus three meatloaves (one for tonight, two for the freezer). DS loves my meatloaf but I haven't made it in ages and ages. Plus I made a small batch of homemade tomato sauce (not spaghetti sauce), and a batch of pulled pork (actually, that is still in the crockpot!). Tomorrow will be CLEANING DAY! And I haven't even really started packing yet! So off to do that right now! But I promise to catch up here in the morning when I have my coffee! TTY tomorrow........P

Congratulations to your DS! I know that is a bittersweet accomplishment for you but I'm sure he is over the moon!

My haunted house on a hill painting is done - I had so much fun tonight. It was done under blacklights, so I opted to take two photos of it: one in black lights and another in normal lights. What a spooky painting!

In normal lights.

In black lights.

I have to say - I love my pumpkin in the corner. :thumbsup2

That is really neat! I've done a lot of paint your own pottery but I haven't tried one of these types of events. My BF really wants to go and I'm hoping we make it happen soon!

weigh in for 10-11 232.1

eta 24.16% of goal

Great job!

PERFECT FALL WEEKEND LENTIL SOUP

Ingredients:

1 onion, diced

3 carrots, cut small

3 celery stalks, cut small

3 cloves garlic, minced

1/4 tsp. Tumeric (optional)

1 bay leaf

1/2 pound lentils

3 cups chicken broth (or vegetable stock)

3 cups water

1 Tb. EVOO

Salt/pepper to taste

In a soup pot, add the olive oil and heat over medium high heat. Add the onion, carrots, celery and garlic and sauté about 5 minutes.

Add your lentils, broth, bay leaf, (optional tumeric) and water. Bring it all to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer, covered, for about an hour or until the lentils are soft and a little creamy. You can add another cup or two of stock for a thinner soup if you so desire. Remember to fish out the bay leaf before serving.

I ALWAYS double this recipe.... it freezes well (if it lasts that long!). I think it tastes best the next day!

**Nice garnishes..... parmesan cheese, a dab of sour cream, and/or quartered and roasted plum tomatoes.

*** I usually use homemade stock without salt, so I need to add a liberal amount of salt to mine.... but please taste before salting if you use canned/boxed stock/broth.

ENJOY!..............P

Making note of all of these right now!

Quick weigh in report: I started at 202.2 last weekend. As of yesterday morning, the scale said 201.1 Not terribly great, but I'll take it. I am going to place a bit of blame on it being "that time of the month" (sorry probably TMI!) and this weekend has probably been a bust. But tomorrow is a new week! Can't wait to start seeing those 100s soon hopefully!

Great job! Those 100s are right around the corner!!!

View attachment 129074

This has not been my month and based on my eating choices last night (and frankly all week), I'm gonna venture a guess and say this will not be a happy weigh-in. But! I'm ready to hop back on it and start losing again because I have a tendency to slip up, get sad, and then say eff it and make poor choices.

I think that my plan had a vague outline and that's keeping me from being successful. I need to do a better job with keeping around fruits and veggies. I feel like I'm starving all the time but that's because I'm not keeping healthy things around to eat so I'm just not eating...and then getting so hungry that I grab the closest (and often unhealthiest thing) possible.

To get back on track, I'm going to do a better job of meal planning with fruits and veggies and then hit the grocery store more than once a week so that I can get fresh produce. My problem is I buy 5 bananas on Friday and then expect them to last me until the next Friday. That's just silly! And my gym is literally right next to the grocery store. So it'll be easy for me to work out and then pop over and get what I need.

I'm also planning on resting a little bit more to make sure that my back is in tip-top shape so that I can run my 5K in two weekends. It's frustrating but a back injury isn't worth it.

I also have been experiencing some medical frustrations with BC and I think it's making me starving ALL THE TIME. So I plan on getting that resolved by the end of next week.

I was hoping to come back yesterday and report that my WOOHOO was I got the job, but alas, I did not. So I spent yesterday stressing quite a bit over how will I find a job that I enjoy and that works for me and how will I do it quickly so we can stay on top of bills and not drain our savings completely... and I still don't have any of those answers! Haha. But I am going to do my absolute best not to worry about it for the next two weeks. There is too much else going on right now! I am nervous that I will spend our Disney trip going around saying "No, we can't get this, we can't do this, we need to save the money because I don't know how long it will take to find a job", but we'll tackle that when we get to it. Haha. I just keep telling myself it will turn out well in the end. Now I just have to figure out how to tell my parents that I quit my job with no prospects in sight... :rolleyes1:scared: :rotfl:

I think now is a good time for me to share a bit of my story.
I left my decently-paying full-time job in the summer of 2013 because I was just miserable and ready for something new. I decided to do some part-time freelance work while looking for another full-time job. I knew it would take a few months because I was trying to transition into a new career path (which I have since given up on because it's what I'm doing freelance and I get frustrated enough from the little I do now). Two plus years later ... still no new job. I'm trying to get back to the work I was doing at my old job but in a different setting (I hated the environment and the outlook, but I actually liked the work), and I haven't been having much success getting interviews (I get phone interviews sometimes, but rarely move past that stage). I'm living off my savings (thankfully, my expenses are low because I live with my parents and all I pay for is clothing and Disney trips) and have been for a while.
At tne end of the day ... it's hard. It stresses me out a lot. But you have to do what's best for you, and that may mean leaving a decent paycheck or job security for the unknown. And anyone who doesn't understand that must be fortunate enough to have never been in an tough work situation.
Hopefully all the job searchers on here will have better luck than I and will get great new jobs soon. But you just have to keep looking and trying and hoping you find a job where you will feel comfortable.

How have you been doing the last 2 weeks? Have you stuck to your plan? Or has life gotten the better of you?

Life has certainly gotten the better of me. And of course, I'm going to a family thing this weekend where I will probably be fed more than I eat at home, but ... I'll survive.

Since I don't really have a goal other than not setting goals, I'm not on or off track, but I do know that I've made some poor decisions, ranging from skipping workouts because I wasn't in the mood to more potato chips in the past week than I usually have in a month.
I think what I want to focus on today is tracking. Breakfast and coffee are already tracked. Lunch might be a veggie burger, which should be easy to track. Dinner may or may not be pizza (I was told there would be pizza yesterday and there wasn't, so I don't know if it's showing up today), which is easily trackable, and I also want to know how much I've eaten earlier in the day so that I know how much pizza is okay for me to have. Also, I know tracking will be almost impossible this weekend because of my plans. So I really want to focus on it today and hopefully that'll make it easier for me to track next week.

I have very little chance to hit my goal for the month. I will easily meet my exercise goal for the month but the weight isn't coming off as fast as I hoped it would. I will modify my goal next month but I'm not letting this get me down or derail my efforts.

It's rough when the weight doesn't come off even though you're exercising ... I've had a few of those months. Just keep up with the exercise and eating well and hopefully you'll start to see those changes soon!

Yay!! Shrinking numbers are the best! I was hoping for a size 12 today too. I have an event tonight and the dress I wanted to wear is a size 12 and does indeed zip. But I can't breathe and oxygen is important to me. :)

Yeah, I used to have one of those dresses. It was my favorite dress, too. When you can finally fit into the dress and breathe deeply - that's an amazing moment. Hopefully you'll be able to do it soon!

---

A belated WooHoo Wednesday for me ... I ran 7 miles this morning! It's a distance I've been getting close to but also a little nervous about, so I'm glad that I was able to do it!
Okay, it's almost 11, I have physical therapy this afternoon, and my to-do list is super long today, so it's time for me to check out. Have a great day, everyone!

mid-monthcheck-in-png.129074

This month has had its positives and negatives so far -- and suffice to say that I have so far done well with my goals and staying on track. Despite having two stressful midterms during the first part of this month, I found ways to trick my body into thinking that I was giving into usual temptations of stress eating. Having munchies like popcorn while studying got my brain thinking that i was eating because of the stress and not because i was really 3 points shy and need to actually eat that snack. But now I'm in the home stretch where there are still 3 weigh-ins left for the month and I can really keep up on what I am doing.

Food choices, exercise, and goals are still very much on track. It is the 15th of the month and I am still candy-free in a candy-filled month. The real temptation will be tomorrow during Mickey's Halloween Party when we hit the Trick or Treat trails. :rotfl2:

I've done the best I can and I know that I could have done no better. This will be my week to get into the Overweight club for sure!

It's amazing how just spending 10 minutes to write out a meal plan, clean out your fridge, and set your mind to it... will change everything. Keep logging your food and hold yourself accountable! The nice thing about this process is that you get a new day to begin each day. You move forward and do not focus on the past; instead, you focus on the possibilities that lay before you and just try to do the best you can every day. You'll find your routine soon. Habits are hard to break and even harder to create. You'll adapt in time.

@DisPup75 -- Wait until that dress gets snug. You'll be doing the happy dance even more than you are now!

@JacknSally -- I'm sorry that your prospect didn't work out - but the timing isn't really that good because you don't want to go to a company and be like "welp, I'm getting married in two weeks and I won't be here for an interview." Keep tossing resumes out there and don't give up. You'll land on your feet soon! (As my mother always told me when I was job hunting.. "You're too young to retire!")

@SarahDisney So inspired by your running -- 7 miles is awesome! :D

I'm behind. Again. Difficult day on Friday and focusing on DD this weekend. I'll get caught up this week. Check in - my goal is to lose 10 pounds and I've lost 2.4 pounds. Better than nothing I guess.

2.4 pounds is WAY better than nothing! I hope your week is going better than your Friday did. :)

In order, my priorities for today are......

dinner in the crockpot in the next 30 minutes
DONE ETA: It was yummy!

make a batch of chicken soup for DH's lunches while I'm away.
DONE (Decided to combine two tasks and made a big batch of soup for tonight's dinner and lunches next week.)

clean all three bathrooms (including the floors)
DONE (took longer than I thought, but I was super picky and even washed the plungers and toilet brushes!)

clean the kitchen (including the floor) This will have to wait until tomorrow. It is mostly done.... dishwasher was run and emptied, dish drainer was emptied (before the dinner pots and pans were added, my "paper pile" was sorted and cleaned up, counters wiped, stove wiped, island wiped...... :(

finish all the laundry (probably only have two loads left to wash) plus drying and putting away.
ALL WASHED (FIVE LOADS) and dried and folded.... will put it away before I sit down for the night.

vacuum EVERYWHERE! Downstairs is done.... upstairs needs to wait until my bedroom is clean.

Generally picking up (I am pretty organized, so this shouldn't take long) Except for the men's mess on the kitchen buffet, picking up is DONE!

Dust the living room and dining room.
DONE!

Sweep the mudroom and front porch.
DONE! Even got a bit of "fall" decor out on the porch!

Empty all the trash.
DONE

Print the menu list for the men (I keep revising it!)
Done! If there are any other changes I'll write them in by hand!

FINISH PACKING (yup, not done yet!)
NOPE!!

Straighten up my bedroom.
Always the thing I leave until last. Tomorrow it WILL be done.... because the majority of the mess is my packing piles!

*************************

I need to move a little faster! I'm running out of time today! But this headache isn't helping! Time for a short caffeine/Advil break!.............P

ETA: 7:55 pm. I told myself I would QUIT by 8pm.... otherwise I get kind of "cray-cray" and don't know when to stop!! So I'll put away the wash I folded as I took it off the line and call it a day..... time for a light beer and some TV time with DS (DH is watching football.... ick). TTY tomorrow.........P

Reading your to-do list makes me tired!

13%! yes! A tiny loss! Well, I got it with a little trick: I slept in very late this morning. I know from experience that I am lighter at 10am than at 6am!

Had a great time at the party and managed to withstand the biggest temptation. The food was not diet food, but I managed to not do too much damage.

Thanks for all the encouragement! I hope the next week will be great for all of us!

GREAT job!

BUTT today!
Are you finally going to tackle that pile of laundry that's been staring you down all weekend? Maybe you're going to take that bike ride you've been promising yourself you'd take for so long now? Did you break into that new weight decade or century this morning? Or, maybe you're going to use today to prep meals for the rest of the week, or vacuum the bedroom, or pack for your upcoming trip! It can be any obstacle, big or small, that you've been wanting/trying to overcome this month. Today is YOUR DAY to do it! Get out there and KICK BUTT!

I took off my procrastination hat for a few hours and made huge amounts of progress on a work project I've been avoiding for months. It was not nearly so bad as expected!

Hi! I just found this board - hope it's not too late to sign up. I'm Krista and I'm in a weight loss challenge at work until December 4. I've done pretty well so far, and am currently sitting in 3rd place! I'm using the Supertracker website and have found that to be an excellent resource. I'm in the heavier end of the normal weight range - my Wii just recently told me I'm no longer overweight :). I'm going to AKL the end of this month and expect to fall off the wagon hard, so I'm making plans on how to stay active and not completely indulge while vacationing. My goal for October is to lose 4 lbs. (and then not gain any while on vacay). Guess I'll be signing up for November too!

Welcome Krista! Congratulations on your Wii's happy news! It is great you are planning ahead for vacation! :)

Sadly midterms are kicking my butt... but I've decided to kick back! My goal today is to try to stay focused on the content that I need to memorize for tomorrow. I'm sort of taking it as a 'light day' at work. Door is closing and I'm immersing myself in it.

Also, I managed to stay within my daily WW points yesterday, despite eating my first In N Out Cheeseburger in about 4 months. Oh my god. It was so delicious.

Hope midterms are nearly done! In N Out cheeseburgers are the only burgers I eat. I'm so glad the nearest one is 1500 miles away!!

OK, I went back to page 1 and went through every post on every page trying to pick up every participant! Haha. If I still missed you, I am SO SORRY! Please let me know!!

If there is no number next to your name, I did not get a result post/message for week two. Please be sure to post your percentages, too, so they can be added here! If left on my own to calculate, I will likely come up with some absurd number, LOL.

These are some great results! Congrats everyone!!

I am here to report a personal success!! I was out at lunch at a thai place that we often go to. I had a pumpkin and chicken breast dish, so heavy on the veggies, lean meat and the sauce was not heavy either. But the best was: I was able to slow down when eating and then realised that I was full before I had eaten everything on my plate. I was able to leave some food on the plate even though it was delicious!! I am struggling so much with making myself stop eating at the right point. I know that when I am very mindful of how I eat it gets better and I have been trying hard those last weeks to improve in that regard. So, this was a major success for me!!

Woohoo! Congratulations on your delicious and mindful lunch!

We've talked about Disney foods. Last month we talked about Disney rides. So today, let's talk about Disney hotels. You've got a week long vacation at the Disney park of your choice, and your hotel room for that week is 100% comped, no matter what hotel or preference you want. SO! Which one do you choose? Do you have any special room requests? Views? Locations? Tell me, tell me!

I'm 100% moving up my Tokyo Disneyland/DisneySea vacation (currently scheduled for 2021) and checking in at the Miracosta.

The good news is that my weight appears to finally start moving down again. I was starting to be quite frustrated. I am still not really down from the start of the month, but I am getting less freaky high numbers. And my jeans fit better. I ended with the belt in a different hole this morning, so that is a good sign! I know I am working hard with dieting and moving. At some point success will return!! I can always hope for a sudden jump down...

It sounds like you are having success even without the scale moving. A different belt hole is nothing to sneeze at! Good job!

Thanks for the birthday wishes everyone!
eta
but I think I'll just call it the 15th anniversary of my 29th birthday :D

Happy belated birthday!,!

I need a moment to vent!

My weight loss has suffered this month. I've felt starving all month and making very very poor choices during the weekend. So this week I was ready to kick butt and get it back into gear!

I wake up on Monday and my back is a little sore. Nothing major so I decide to go work out, clean the whole house, and basically spend my entire day off running around. Monday night I really start to feel it. Yesterday I woke up in soooo much pain. Idk what I did to myself! I went to the chiropractor who did a little back cracking and I feel somewhat better but definitely not anywhere near 100%. I can't really bend at the waist or tilt my head down. I wasn't able to work out yesterday and something tells me that I'll probably be out for the rest of the week. I'm pretty bummed because next weekend is the 5k that I signed up for and I know that the longer I'm on the couch with this back problem, the less in shape I'm going to be for this 5k. So I'm just feeling all around bummed today.

To switch gears and quit whining - I'm woohooing today because I get to wear Royals gear and jeans to work to support them in game 5! Gotta love jeans days.

Ouch ouch ouch. Hope the back feels better soon!

Happy Whoohoo Wednesday to all my new friends! Well, I don't have a whoohoo Wednesday yet...but I want to recap my weekend! Had a great time at Dead North! I screamed so much my ribs hurt! And....compared to last year (when I had trouble walking) I did really good with no knee or foot pain! The loss of weight has really helped my knees. Then....I did a former co-worker lunch. They had all my favorites for dessert. Homemade apple pie (she won for best pie at the fair), apple crisp, peanut butter cheesecake and mini cherry cheesecakes! Here's the good news....I didn't have any! I looked at it a lot and just kept saying "no, you don't need it!" Here's the not so good news: After returning home from Dead North, I was bending over to unplug a small heater I have in my bedroom and MY BACK WENT OUT! OMG! Talk about pain! I couldn't even get up from the bending position. My sweetie helped me into bed, where I writhed in agony most of the night. I went to the doc's and she wants me to have an MRI done. I had a shot of something that has helped since....but I cannot go to the gym! I am very upset about this! I wasn't even lifting anything, just bending over. So....I have to troop on....if I can't go to the gym until I have the MRI....I just can't go to the gym. I have to accept the things I cannot change and have the wisdom to know the difference. So, I'm using heat and muscle relaxers and trying to stay on track with food. I did overeat last night....the good old comfort of graham crackers with almond butter. But....I'm okay and I will get through this. I may not have a
Whoohoo Wednesday today....but I have a Whoohoo attitude in spite of the pain. Carry on Troops!

Oh no! More back pain? Best wishes to your back too!

@Thistle I was responding to the QotD .. since it's all make believe then no I won't feel rushed!!! OH NO Sorry about your back!!!

my Whoo Hooo is that I have been sticking to my meal plan for the week so far.. Breakfast Lunch & Dinner.. I have had a few treats but they are melted into my bonus points..

Great job!

I survived my midterm. :cool1:

How I did on it is a whole other issue. I am just hoping for the B.

Woohoo on survival! I'm sure you did great!!

Just back home from my Woohoo of the day: I went for a run! In the dark!! With my "headlight"! Not sure how you call it. I asked my parents to get one for Christmas last year and then did not use it very much at all. I decided that this winter it will finally get a lot of use! Run went great, I managed to get a pace of less than 7 min/km. But I think part of that might be due to my GPS thinking that I ran a little bit longer than I actually did. Running through streets with 5 story houses on each side sometimes makes the GPS having trouble... Anyway, I feel great and that is all that matters!

Yay! That's awesome that you had a great run AND you feel great about it!

I realized that I forgot to reply to this! I actually did not really change anything. I knew that I have been doing the right things. But I also know that my body often refuses to let go of my weight. I think sometimes the fat gets burned, but at the same time more water gets stored? I was thinking today that actually the current weight is one where I often struggle for a bit. I once read that our bodies have a weight memory function. That is why we often end up gaining everything back and why maintaining is so difficult. It takes a long time to reset those memory weights. So, I think the one I am at now just needs some time to tackle. I have never been someone who loses regularly. My weight loss goes in waves. So, the only thing I am doing is not giving up! Because I can go the distance!! (Yes, I really really like this song!!)

Weight memory is so interesting. I wish my body remembered when it weighed about 130 pounds. :). We CAN go the distance!

Well, another pound down and it' s not Saturday yet. We had a class reward in Language Arts and my teacher made pancakes. She had whipped cream and syrup. I only ate one and with whipped cream because I wanted a little bit, but the guy that was doing the whipped cream was flirting with me ad gave me more than I wanted. Another guy tried to put his hand on my thigh in Science. School was just weird today!

Congratulations on the extra pound lost and having a good plan to deal with the pancakes, syrup, and whipped cream! School does sound weird. :)

No WooHoo for me this week ... it's been a bit of a rough one so far. But tomorrow is a new day...

Hope today has been better!

WOOHOOOO INDEED!! Welcome, friend! Isn't it nice in Onederland!? I want to stay forever!

It is nice! How about we both agree to stay forever?

Oh, I'm sorry about the job. I think all you can do right now is maybe out out a few applications, enjoy your wedding and honeymoon, and be prepared to get on that search as soon as you get back. Your happiness matters a lot and a job that was almost making you physically sick is not something you want or need. I've got faith that a new job will come along quickly. The conversation with the parents on the other hand.... I would dread that. But I'm sure you will rip the bandaid off and get it done and it will all be fine :)

I am so sorry that it did not work out. But as others have said, maybe getting a new job just before your wedding and honeymoon is not ideal either. I am sure there will be other opportunities around!

View attachment 129074

I'm pretty happy with this month. My choices have been fairly solid when they've been under my control and I managed to do a good job of portion control when presented with the never ending carb & cheese fest of the days with my in-laws. I've achieved my primary goal of seeing 199.8 and am on track to lose the pound or so I need to make this a 5 pound month.

I'm happy with my combination of WW, the Fitbit, and MFP. I'm not sure why I'm continuing to double track but it suits me and I don't mind it so I suppose I'll just continue.

What isn't working for me? Fruits and vegetables. They are free now. I should be eating them by the bushel. But I'm not. Even leaving aside he days away, I'm barely eating any produce at all. And I don't know why! I like them. I have them in my house. Some already washed and cut up so it couldn't possibly be easier. But I want nothing to do with them.

I have very little chance to hit my goal for the month. I will easily meet my exercise goal for the month but the weight isn't coming off as fast as I hoped it would. I will modify my goal next month but I'm not letting this get me down or derail my efforts.

My WW leader made a point last week that maintenance isn't all that different than losing. We all have to do the same things whether we lose quickly or slowly and the journey is apparently never as fast as we would like. I'm glad that you aren't letting it derail you. The finish line will be there eventually! And woohoo on the exercise goal! That you are easily meeting it is great!!!

Great job on planning with specificity! I sometimes write down plans for the week that say things like "eat better." Shockingly they don't work. :)

Life has certainly gotten the better of me. And of course, I'm going to a family thing this weekend where I will probably be fed more than I eat at home, but ... I'll survive.

It's rough when the weight doesn't come off even though you're exercising ... I've had a few of those months. Just keep up with the exercise and eating well and hopefully you'll start to see those changes soon!

I hope that your dream job is waiting for you around the corner. Great job on that long run!?

I love the way you think about and plan around the arguments that your body puts up. And great job on the continued no candy success!!!

The focus on every day being a new day is a wonderful reminder!

Tomorrow is my weigh-in, so I certainly hope the scale will reflect my efforts. I've been consistent with tracking this month and staying at my 26 points My biggest hurdle continues to be mornings when I come home from my night shift. I'm so hungry! I made one bad choice this week for breakfast - a Reese pumpkin from the grocery shop on the way home from work. I'm either going to grocery shop another time or bring a protein bar to eat before shopping. I've been meeting my modest exercise goal. All in all, I'm satisfied with staying on track, but may have to increase my exercise time/intensity to rev up this middle age metabolism!

I am on track for my goal. I have been active every day for 90 minutes and have been more mindful about eating and making healthier choices. I am at 60% of my goal.

I have made some pretty bad choices this month: I've eaten fast food at least 5 times, I've bought and ate a couple pints of Ben & Jerry's, I've actively decided to stay home on the couch instead of going for that walk I promised I would take. However, I have also made some great choices! I have increased my water consumption (meaning fluid consumption in general, since I don't really drink anything besides water or milk), I have not stopped at the McDonald's EVERY night on my way to work, I have not stopped for a donut/kringle/bagel every morning on my way home from work, and I have made sure to take the most indirect/repetitive routes while walking at work. :yay: I am currently on track to meet my goal, but I can still work on the things mentioned above. :flower1:

Good morning, everyone, and happy Friday! Not a moment too soon if you ask me. Maybe a little too late! Haha.

It's weigh in day! Can't wait to see those numbers!

It's DICTIONARY DAY! So tell me. What is your FAVORITE word, and what does it mean?

A belated WooHoo Wednesday for me ... I ran 7 miles this morning! It's a distance I've been getting close to but also a little nervous about, so I'm glad that I was able to do it!

That's an awesome distance! I'm very impressed and a woohoo to you :)

I've done the best I can and I know that I could have done no better. This will be my week to get into the Overweight club for sure!

You'll make it into the Overweight club in no time! You're kicking butt! And thank you for the kind words. I dumped our last piece of wedding cake out this morning and today is grocery shopping day so I'll have a plan. My WPP resets tomorrow which I love because it's just a reminder that the week is new and every day is new. I'm proud of myself for not quitting.

Great job on planning with specificity! I sometimes write down plans for the week that say things like "eat better." Shockingly they don't work. :)

I know right? Life would be so much easier if we could just write down super vague plans and have them work perfectly. But it's like, if I want to make more money I can't just write down a plan of "make more money". Well, I could. But I'll probably have the same struggles I have now.

I have made some pretty bad choices this month: I've eaten fast food at least 5 times, I've bought and ate a couple pints of Ben & Jerry's, I've actively decided to stay home on the couch instead of going for that walk I promised I would take. However, I have also made some great choices! You're making better choices and that's great! You can't change everything at once or it'll be too overwhelming. One step at a time! Congrats for staying on track to meet your goal.

So here we are on a Friday at my office...someone brought chic fil a biscuits again. Then my new bosses boss brought cookies, coffee cake, oj, and milk. I swear they are all conspiring against me.

Chick Fil A is my weakness! I seriously eat there all the time. I came in to 4 boxes of Krispy Kreme donuts so I feel your pain :)
