Northern California Pre-Cruise Meeting Update

It appears there may be two pre-cruise meetings. One will be held on Sunday, November 14, in Mt. View, at Cuesta Park. If the weather doesn’t cooperate, the meeting will be moved to a pizza parlor a couple blocks from the park. Final details will be posted soon.

A second pre-cruise meeting is being considered for those who cannot make the Sunday meeting. It would be on Saturday, November 13, in either San Francisco or Napa Valley. PM me if you are interested in attending this get-together and your preference of location. Val

Nah, they just had one bad inning out of nine. Not that I'm not happy that the Giants won, but I don't think you should let the final score determine how well the Rangers played cuz they actually played very well.

Carmen - I agree with Melissa, CJ Wilson (Rangers) pitched a great game it just went a little south after that.

Don't be worry. Now that they will be going home I am sure they will be revitalized.

I hope the Giants don't get to confident 'cause your Rangers have shown again and again they are winners.

Thanks all You're right, they didn't play that bad. It was the 8th inning that absolutely killed us - I didn't think it would ever end. And all with 2 outs Anyway, tomorrow's a new game, they're at home, and their hitting is too good to go scoreless again.

My sis is here and I may be going home with her for a week or two. I was planning on going up there next weekend to visit her and my mom but plans may be changing. She is supposed to start a new job next week and her babysitter just called and told her that she couldn't started watching the baby for two weeks. So, if I can work out things here, I'll be going to take care my 4 month old nephew. It will be fun.

We are also going to San Diego after the cruise, but wont see you there--we are doing 3 nights at DL, then on Monday the 24th we are driving down to SD for the day and then taking the redeye flight home late that evening. Let me know if you want any advice on where to visit in SD- I lived there from 2004-2007 during college and have some great recommendations if you need any. Since we only have one day we're just going to briefly visit my college, then go to Coronado or La Jolla for the day, but if you have a few days there is so much you can do.

Small world! My brother was there at that time. I know chances are slim, but did you know Jon Armel?
The area is really beautiful, I wish we had time to visit this trip.

CHAMPAGNE GIRLS UPDATE – Calling all Champagne Girls and Wanna-bes (all are welcome)
Champagne Girls Celebration-. Ladies pack your pink boas and tiaras in anticipation of confabulation and libations, especially champagne, and of course amazing merrymaking.
The PC cruise ladies have voted for an organized tasting but, if this is not possible, will meet on our own. Of course the event will be captured for posterity, by a photographer from Shutters and/or our own.
DCL Request Department has been sent an e-mail requesting the private champagne tasting. To date we have not heard back from them. I have sent a FAX asking for confirmation of receipt of our request and requesting information on when we can anticipate the positive response we are hoping for. Will advise when I hear back from them.

What was done on the tour when we opened our room was the following: The tour started on the lowest deck. The people showing their room met at the first room a few minutes before everyone. So the people in rooms on the tour on the highest floor could see the rooms on the lower two decks before they had to get to their room. Those on the lower decks went after everyone had cleared their deck and told the people on the next deck they were the last and they could close their rooms. Most people had two or more adults in their room so they took turns going back and looking at the rooms they had missed.

Without a doubt it is very generous of the people who open their rooms, As someone who missed a seeing a few of the rooms I can say meeting everyone made up for it.

I would never leave my room open unattended. Hope this doesn't discourage you from showing your room.

Sorry I didnt know anyone by that name...but lol I wasnt much of a social person out there since I was taking 18 credits a semester and swamped with classes and studies all the time. Did he go to USD, SDSU, or UCSD? I went to USD but I lived in La Jolla closer to UCSD.

UPDATE TO THE CHAMPAGNE GIRLS UPDATE – Calling all Champagne Girls and Wanna-bes (all are welcome)
I have received a response to my FAX to the DCL Function Request Department regarding our Champagne Girls Celebration. She replied that our reputation precedes us and that she has scheduled Champagne Girls events before. She further stated she would be scheduling her January requests sometime in November and would advise us as to what DCL can provide at that time. However, in order to assist us she will need an estimate of how many of us would be in attendance. When I inquired as to an estimated cost, she indicated it would be somewhere between $15 and $20 each. Non-alcoholic beverages could also be provided.

Please send me a pm, even if you have notified me already, if you would like to be included in the count. Please note I will be giving her a count of the estimated number for planning purposes, not your individual information. I would like to hear from you by next Friday, 11-5, at the latest. Thank you.

A photo scavenger hunt sounds like great fun. Is someone volunteering to organize this?
Did you have the pictures printed at Shutters? Each night we have a few 4x6photos from the day printed and attach them to the wall with blue tape (doesn't damage the paint) in our cabin or on the door.
As we get closer to the cruise perhaps we can coordinate our activities so there is no conflict. I can think of the Wine & Meet, Room Tour, Champagne Girls and now the Photo Scavenger Hunt, PJ Breakfast.? Did I miss anything? Perhaps we can get some idea of what else is being planned by DCL. Does anyone have a contact with our CD from past cruises?

I know that teams were sent out at staggered times and had a set amount of time to take as many pics on the list as possible. When time was up we went back to the judges and let them scan through the pics on our camera to determine how many points each team earned.


I found the "Pocket Pirate" someone put together for that cruise. (A 1 pager of all the planned activities.) Besides coordinated excursions in each port, here's some of the other things we did as a group.

Melissa - the puppy is doing well, she already sleeps all night quietly in her kennel and both dogs are getting along just fine now.

My Dad travels quite often so it's always great to get a quick note from him letting us know he's fine.

Capris and sandals for me. Dont want to waste time when they have me take off shoes for screening, lol

I wear clogs with short socks...easy on/off and no bare feet on the airport floor.

I am trying to keep up but sometimes I get behind. There have been a lot of ideas thrown around, but not all of them have been finalized and I want to make sure I capture what I can. Does anyone know when and where we are having Bunko and the other card game people talked about?

What a fantastic list, Robin !

This cruise is getting more exciting with each passing day ! I'm sure I'm going to wish it was twice as long by the time we get to the end of 15 days

Melissa - I'm happy to bring Cub / Scout badges from this end of the earth (I can probably organise some Guide badges, too, as one of the other Scout leaders' wives is the Girl Guide leader). I have two who are Cub Scouts (it's co-ed here in Aus. these days).

Trip from WDW to Port - I probably should have clarified a few things (thanks for asking, Melissa ). It's the morning of embarkation, and we plan on arriving at Port at 10am (so leaving WDW around 9am (I think that's enough time). At the moment, the cost will be approx. $30pp, give or take. With more people coming, that cost will likely drop.

I'm in the midst of a Spring clean (right when i should be doing taxes). It's very cathartic getting rid of junk, though (and frees up more space for all the "junk" we'll end up bringing back with us ! )

We were thinking about something for the guys to do while we were being Champagne Girls. One thought was they could have a tropical shirt contest and a mixology tasting. Maybe having them at a time when we could all attend would be preferred. What do you all think? val
