What's your strategy for dealing with pesky phone calls like the one posted about below? My sibs are all drama queens. They leave loooooooonnng voicemails and always add "we miss you so-o-o-o much" (long whiney "so") or "I rea-ea-ea-ly need to talk to you" (long whiney "really"). I look at the caller ID and never answer if it's them, except for the rare occassions when I have 2 free hours where I can sit and go, "uh huh, yeah, I know, uh huh, uh huh" and have no need to talk myself because the calls are always about some perceived crisis or dramatic need of theirs; they really don't want to hear anything anyone else says. I can be a listener but dang.
I've had a few friends like this over the years too--the one most recently would call my home #, and if I didn't immediately answer would call my cell AND my pager. When she emailed me, she would send a "read" receipt request, which I disabled. It was just way, way too much. It's not like we were super-close friends--we just did stuff together once in a while.
(And when I did call her back it would always be a 30-45 minute monologue on her part with me barely able to get a word in).
