The headline on the travel section in the <a href="http://www.ajc.com/">Atlanta Journal-Constitution</a> Sunday was "10 tips for a Disney cruise". They reprinted an article that orginally appeared in the <a href="http://www.pbpost.com/">Palm Beach Post</a>. Unfortunately, I can't provide an online link for this article, but here is a summary of the author's tips...<blockquote><table><tr valign=top><td align=right>1. </td><td>Use the kids’ programming.</td></tr><tr valign=top><td align=right>2. </td><td>Don’t overschedule at Castaway Cay.
</td></tr><tr valign=top><td align=right>3. </td><td>Eat at Palo.</td></tr><tr valign=top><td align=right>4. </td><td>Consider skipping Nassau and/or Grand Bahama.</td></tr><tr valign=top><td align=right>5. </td><td>Do your drinking on the ship.</td></tr><tr valign=top><td align=right>6. </td><td>Spend some time in your cabin.</td></tr><tr valign=top><td align=right>7. </td><td>Skip the “mandatory” debarkation talk.</td></tr><tr valign=top><td align=right>8. </td><td>If you have kids, do the sail-away and farewell parties on the pool deck.</td></tr><tr valign=top><td align=right>9. </td><td>Ask if you can see the schedule for the entire cruise on the first day.</td></tr><tr valign=top><td align=right>10. </td><td>Be friendly.</td></tr></table></blockquote>If you're wondering about any of these tips, post your question and any number of folks on this board can offer explanation.

How do you go about getting a copy of the entire cruise on the first day?

I also would like to know where I can get a second KTTW made...we are in adjoining rooms and would like to have this for safety reasons.

Thanks,
Michele

Go to guest services and they will give you the second key.

They usually offer a summary schedule with all the highlights listed. If you don't get it when you check in, ask for it as soon as you board.

That was a great article in yesterday's AJC. It was probably the only thing I read from start to finish! Now if I could just get my cruise booked I could use all those great tips!

Phew...I thought I was the only person wondering this!

Maybe they're afraid you'll get drunk at Port, lose track of time and end up keeping everyone onboard waiting!!! ;)

Could be a cost thing? I'd suspect eating and drinking on board instead of in port would be a lot cheaper!

<i>From the cited article in the AJC</i>

<table><tr valign=top><td><b>5. </b></td><td><b>Do your drinking on the ship.</b>

Many three- and four-day cruise passengers have a land/sea deal that includes a few days at a Walt Disney World resort. If you enjoy having a few drinks, but not every night, plan your party time aboard the ship, where almost any alcoholic drink you order—from margaritas to Drambui on the rocks—will cost $4.75. Similar drinks at the resort hotels go for $7 and up. (This advice does not apply to wine, which can be pricey on the ship.)

And while we’re on the subject of liquid refreshment, don’t get suckered into buying the $20 “soda package,” the cruise version of those refillable mugs sold at all the Disney resorts. Water, coffee and tea are readily available on pool decks, and you can drink all the free soda, iced tea, lemonade or fruit punch you want in the ship’s restaurants.</td></tr></table>

Thx for posting Dave....
I'll keep this in mind nx cruise!

I have to LOL ...
I could have been more #10 if I hadn't been #6 !! ;)

Joni :bounce: :Pinkbounc

The talk is shown on tv so you can watch it while getting ready for the night, packing up, etc...
To be honest, I didnt realize it was "mandatory". :D

Thanks for posting the tips, Dave!

I've been able to get iced tea and lemonade at the free beverage station, too...not just water, coffee and tea.

LOL Dave_from_Marietta! 4Nana, I hope you have a better experience next time. That must have been so frustrating!!! :( I remember reading all about your experience...especially when everyone on the boards was 'looking' for you while you were onboard!
