I know a boat goes from MK to Fort Wilderness.
Obviously to a boat dock at Fort Wilderness.

Where is the HDD in respect to the boat dock at Fort Wilderness ?
Can you walk to the HDD from the dock ?
Is the walk far ?

Thanks ! :thumbsup2

Not far at all!! Maybe a 3-4 min. walk. Off the boat, up the 'trail' and HDDR is right there on the right.

Thank you soooo much !

I am hoping for no rain on 6/29 for the 7:15 PM show (or we will have to bus it, I guess).
We will boat from MK to HDD (FW) and then boat back.
Maybe we will see Wishes on our way back to MK from the HDD.

We are staying at the Poly and think the boat will be our best transportation.
We can hang in MK for a bit (closes at 11 PM on 6/29) - or just monorail back to the Poly after getting off the boat.

We love the WDW transportation system - like a city unto its self :rotfl:

Just want to add my experience.

Last month, I met my family at the HDD. I was not in the park, so I drove & took the bus. I had fun looking at all of the camps sites while riding on the bus.

My family was at the park, & took the boat from MK to meet me there for the 7:15 show.

I have to say, this was one of my favorite things that I did on our trip. There is a small man-made beach with lounge chairs. I sat on the chair, watching all of the boats coming & going. It was sunset, & it was the most beautiful sky I have seen in a long time.

Some children were running, chasing the ducks, while there moms & dad watched on the beach. It was so peaceful.

I was able to meet my family, on the dock, & continue to HDD show.

One important note, HDD is freezing. Bring a sweater. The waiter told us, he is always giving out tablecloths, (for warmth) due to the cold air which all 3 of wore.

Hope this helps

Patricia

Enjoy the beach, the fun show, & the yummy food.

Yeah, what Patricia said!!!

We've done Hoop Dee Doo 3 times, and YES, it is FREEZING in there!!! I really don't know why they crank the AC to about 50, but they do. I am usually a very warm blooded person, and I was shivering!!!

Another thing you may want to do is catch the Electrical Water Pageant after HDD . . . it should be passing by the Fort Wilderness beach just after your show.

Rather than taking the boat back to MK and then monorail to Poly you could also take a boat from FW to CR and then Monorail to Poly or boat to MK and then boat to Poly. The boat to boat option is probably quicker than the monorail.

We enjoyed the boat ride in both directions. It was POURING when we got out of HDD, but we were prepared with dollar store ponchos. And right near the dock was a building with enough of an overhang for almost a boat-load of people to stay dry while waiting for the boat to arrive.

When you get off the boat, you truly can't miss HDD. My father-in-law could fall out of a boat and not find water, but he found Pioneer Hall that day. Pioneer Hall is on the main path/road from the dock going into Fort Wilderness. It is a straight path, no curves whatsoever. Pioneer Hall is DIRECTLY on that road; you can see the building from the dock.

How often do the boats run from MK to WL? Is there much of a wait as it approaches time for HDD? If we were at Epcot instead, what type of transportation do we want to use to get to HDD, and how long should we plan on waiting for transportation? Thanks.

That's how we went. The ferry driver will point you right up the hill from the dock. Just a few minutes walk and it's a big building on your right hand side. Try not to be too early, as they don't let you in early and ther's not a whole lot to do there-or even benches to sit on. We had done MK all day and I ended up sitting on the ground waiting for 30 minutes or so with 3 yr old DS on my lap. UGH!

If you are going to Hoop Dee Doo, you do NOT want to go to Wilderness Lodge. You want to go to FORT Wilderness.

Boats run about every 20 minutes. They leave from the dock directly in front of MK, between the bus stops and the monorail.

If we were at Epcot instead, what type of transportation do we want to use to get to HDD, and how long should we plan on waiting for transportation?

If you are at Epcot, you could take the direct bus to Fort Wilderness. Like any other bus route, plan on about 40 minutes.

Remember that if you take a bus to Fort Wilderness, you have to then get on an internal Fort Wilderness bus to get to Pioneer Hall. Plan extra time if you go by bus instead of boat.
