Rise and shine! MK day today! We head for the bus stop, and sit for at least 10 minutes waiting for the bus. Usually we get one within a few minutes, but not today. We are also used to being the last stop on the route, but as turns out they switched the routes, and now we are first, and we have to go to the Swan and Dolphin on our way to the MK. By the time we get to the MK, the train from the opening ceremony is already pulling away. We have never gotten there after the gates open before. Oh well, I am still choking back the tears when we walk in and see the castle. We are heading straight for Dumbo, another tradition, ride Dumbo first thing before the lines form, and only once per trip. This time though, we cant get through the castle, its roped off, and we have to go around. We actually had to wait a few minutes for Dumbo, go figure LOL. Pooh is next on the list, much better line here. We head over the Mickeys Philarmagic for the next show, starting in about 10 minutes. Dd and I love this movie, its amazing! When were done with the show, the line for Peter Pan is already too long to wait in, so we grab Fastpasses. We are used to being able to get more done without passes first thing in the morning, but not in October I guess.
While we wait for our ride time, we ride Goofys barnstormer. Such a short ride, but we love it anyway. This was a total walk-on, gotta love that. We head to the lines for the characters, since I heard there was a Princess room this time. We get in line for Cindy and Ariel, and we are let in the room within a minute, and we are all alone. Cant beat that! When we leave their room, the lines have gotten HUGE! What great timing. We skip the other lines, since weve seen Minnie twice already, and we are having dinner with Pooh in a couple of days.
After Toontown, we check the line on the Speedway, since this is the worst line there is, next to Dumbo. Its probably the shortest weve ever seen it, so we jump in. We probably only waited 10 minutes. We need a quick bathroom stop before the tea cups, and we find Push, the talking trash can. This is the highlight of my kids day! They have been hoping to find him. He is so funny, the man who runs him is a genious. Its funny, he was standing not 4 feet from us, and then man next to us is telling his friend that the guy must be up on a roof top somewhere running the can. He had my kids and all the adults cracking up. He says the funniest things to the kids. He asked my son where he was from, and asked if school was out this week in Minnesota, and when my son said no he says ooooohhhhhh, skipping school!!!. It was too cute! After a quick spin on the tea cups, its time for Peter Pan. This is one of our favorites, and this time the kids decide to ride together, so dh and I get to ride together for the first time since our honeymoon. I just love flying over London in my pirate ship.
Now for another tradition, LOL, I run to grab a fastpass for Buzz while we eat lunch at Cosmic Rays. OK, so not a tradition, but it always works for us. My kids were disappointed that the singer was no longer there. Anyone know if they are just putting in a new one or if he is gone for good?
We had a little time after lunch before Buzz, so we rode the people mover first, another favorite. Its so nice and relaxing. We grabbed a fast pass for Space Mtn. for the boys to use after we ride Buzz. We get back to Buzz and the fast pass line is HUGE. Its spilling out onto the walkway. And while we stand there and wait, a group of 5 or 6 people, walk right in front of us, and squeeze into the line in front of us. How rude. This was definitely not fast pass at its finest. Once inside the line moved pretty quick, all things considered, the people in the standby line probably didnt agree, since they got held up so they could shrink the fastpass line.
After Buzz, we do Carousel of Progress. After we rotate to the second room, the guy on the speaker yells at someone to please stop videotaping. Then twice, the say please remain seated, do not open the doors. All this delays our moving to the 3rd room. Just once, Id like to do this, and see the whole show, without having it messed up. Still, we love it, and spend the rest of the day singing the song. The boys do Space Mountain and dd and I go shopping (see, a pattern LOL). Enough park time, back to the pool for the afternoon.
Its a little cloudy this afternoon, so dh and I rest in some chairs while the kids swim. We discuss what to do for the night and decide to eat dinner in the room, and go back to the MK for Wishes. I leave the pool to go start the spaghetti, and tell dh to come in about 15 minutes with the kids. When he finally gets back in the room, he says he got delayed because he had a conversation with a man sitting next to him by the pool. Turns out he is a DIS board member, and I missed him!!! PaulTS is his name, and I was so bummed out that I didnt get to talk to him. Dh laughed, because he is so DIS clueless that he couldnt even tell him my screen name.
After we ate our spaghetti, we took the bus back the MK. This is already our 3rd time on this bus LOL. We took the train to Frontierland, hoping we could get a ride on Big Thunder before Wishes. The line says 20 minutes, but in our experience the posted times are usually longer than reality, so we give it a shot. After 15 minutes, we have barely moved inside the building, and there is at least 3 times as long left to wait, so much to dds dismay, we bail on the line. That was a waste of time. We try Pirates instead. Now thats more like it, we literally walk down the line and right into a boat. Of course I am wondering about the Ghost while we ride, but nothing odd happens LOL. We weave our way back near mainstreet to get some ice cream for Wishes, and the ice cream line is the longest line yet! The 3 of us, ended up leaving dh in line, because Wishes started before we had the ice cream. But, we had a great view, and no one standing in front of us. I cannot explain it, but this show brings me to tears, its amazing. We have always ended up battling huge Saturday crowds in the past at the MK for fireworks, and I was so glad we chose Monday instead. It was so much nicer. Its also nice, since on Monday they were at 8 instead of 10, so it wasnt quite so late when we got to bed.
