From MCO to Port Canaveral

We've always spent time at WDW prior to our cruises so we've always had a car that we drove to the port. For our cruise next year, we may just fly in the night before the cruise. What is the most economical way to get to the port and also back to the airport after the cruise?

In case we decide to spend a couple of days at WDW after the cruise, we'll likely rent a car after the cruise. Is there a rental place near the port and is it much more expensive to return the car to the airport?

Also - if we decide to rent a car at the airport do any of the hotels have a park and cruise deal that's less expensive than paying to park at the port?

Thanks for any info!

Depending on how many of you there are, DCL transfers may be an option. They cost $35.00 per person each way between MCO/port.

There are several car rental companies in Port Canaveral. As far as I know they all have shuttles from the ship to their offices:

Many car rentals there don't have one way charges, sometimes they do, you have to ask each one if they will have a one way drop off fee.

I haven't done it, but it's my understanding that several of the Port Canaveral hotels have park & cruise options. You'd have to ask them if they have it and how much it is.

We did one-way rental cars in both directions. It worked great for us. (We did Budget, because they happened to have the best prices when we pulled the trigger.)

The pickup at the airport is right in the airport parking garage, and the rental counter is inside the airport. Very convenient. We didn't experience an extra charge for one-way, but I have read here that some people report a $50 charge. In our case, the cheapest 1-day rentals were like $40. We did one for like $60, so we could get a nicer car. It was great to be able to go out to dinner the night before, and to stop at the grocery store and the liquor store in the morning. Plus, not having to be at a certain place at a certain time to meet the shuttle bus was great.

At the port, you drive to the rental agency a mile or two away (We dropped off our passengers and luggage at the port first) and they have a free shuttle back. That had a little bit of a line, but not bad.

Then, after the cruise, we took the rental companies free shuttle from the port back to their office and rented our second car. For us, it was cheaper than renting it for the week and trying to park it somewhere. YMMV.
