From Katella/Disneyland Drive - how do I get into the parks?

If I end up staying on Habor Blvd, I understand how to walk to the parks.

But if I stay on Katella, by Disneyland Drive - I'm not sure I see how to walk to the parks from there. If I'm not able to go through GCH, what is the best way?

When I use google maps and look, it looks like Disneyland Drive goes under the DTD pathway. How do I get into DTD? Is there a better way?

We are booked to stay at Stovall's in June, wondering this same thing since it appears starting tomorrow (Thursday), there is a new path into DTD through security gates.

GCH is probably the best path to take to get into Disneyland. The DTD pathway can be accessed if you walk through Paradise pier Hotel, and to the pathway behind it.

Taking the blue route, you can probably get on the monorail and get dropped off at Tomorrowland. Assuming they arent blocked for hotel guest.

Are you going this weekend? Give Disney a few days to figure out how they're going to route foot traffic through the new checkpoints before picking a route.

My thoughts exactly. I stayed at that intersection last weekend and cut through GCH. There were no signs of security from GCH to DTD. I suspect everyone is going to have to go west to Disney Hotel, then east through security into DTD.

We arrive on Saturday and are staying At a hotel on Katella and DL Drive. The plan is to assess the situation on Saturday to see whether I want to walk to DTD or drive in everyday to M&F. My understanding is that you will not longer be allowed to cut through the GCH. You can only enter through there is you are staying at the hotel.

That's how they've started doing it for the runDisney races, everyone has to go to through the same security point, even if it means going past the corrals and doubling back. I figured it was likely that would be the new system, at least initially.

The new Security checks start on Thursday (tomorrow), looks like the route in Red will be limited to ONLY guests of the GCH. (Must show room key at the small hallway security check next to Sephora.

DLH, PPH and off-property Hotels will need to take the Blue path to the ESPN Zone and new Security check.

But nothing official has been announced (and yes, we are less than 24 hours from the changeover), alas, that how Disney works.

So stay tuned....

Just notice the blue route is correct for those coming from Katella, walk straight north up Disneyland Drive to teh Traffic Light where the driveways for GCH and PPH parking is, and then make a left to get to the west end of Downtown Disney, and walk by the Disneyland Hotel Tower to the security check station between the ESPN Zone and Earl of Sandwich.

No need to walk through the PPH unless you want to.

That's quite the hike then. I don't mind walking a KM to the park & back, but that's more closer to 2 KMs if I'm mapping it out correctly.

No, I'm not going this weekend. I don't arrive until Jan 31st.

I'm trying to figure out which hotel to book. I was thinking of Best Western Plus Pavilions or BW Plus Stovall's Inn. It didn't look that far of a walk when I thought I could walk up Disneyland Drive to the DTD pathway just past GCH. Before I realized the road goes underneath the pathway.

My next two choices were Castle Inn & Suites or Hotel Indiglo. I think my son would love Castle Inn. Maybe I should just book there.

I think I'll book one hotel on Katella and Castle on Harbor and see how the next few weeks play out. Can't wait to hear people's experiences come this weekend!

If you are looking at the Hotel Indigo, you might want to look at the three new Hotels across the street, Hyatt House, Springhill Suites and Residence Inn. Though they might be out of your price range.

And you could use ART to get to the Hotels at the corner of Katella and Disneyland Drive/West Street.

I stayed next to BW Stovall last weeekend. It was almost exactly 0.7mi (1 km). I can't imagine 100 yards walk west, and 100 yards back east, doubles the walking distance.

Where are you measuring from? A long time ago, a standard was set, front Lobby of the Hotel to the center of the Main Entrance Plaza (aka Star).

The new route is 1.5 km from the BWP Stovall's

The old route would have been 1.1 km, so the walk is less than a third longer.

I have never been to Disneyland before. I'm trying to figure out the distances. If I map the route suggested in post #3 from BW Plus Pavilions, I get 1.7 KMs / 1 mile. I guess that is not too bad. That's about 15, no more than 20 minutes. I took a screen shot and pasted it below. Is this the correct route if security does not let people through GCH anymore?

Yes, that is correct for the BWP Pavillions. FYI, my prior post was showing the path from the BW Stovall's

Sorry, I was going by my phone's step count from the intersection (Coco's where I had breakfast) to the (old) bag check.

Using the tool you linked, that shows as 1.02km, so within a couple meters of what my phone was saying.

Either way, it looks like the new route adds a total of 300 yards/meters to the walk. For reference, that is about the same distance as a stroll from the DL gates, under the train tracks, up Main Street USA, to the partners statue. It would not be a deal-breaker for me, as last time I was in DL our full step count was 7 miles, and that was from 7am leaving the hotel, to noon back at the hotel and in the car to head back to Arizona.

Does anyone know if we can still get to the trams if we came up Magic Way from Walnut to Disneyland Drive? We renting a townhome there for our trip in February, but I'm not really familiar with that area & haven't been back to Disneyland for over 4 years plus last time stayed on harbor at DI&S. :) any help advice or maps would be helpful!

I am considering one of the BW hotels on Katella. I'll be following this development in security changes. Thanks to everyone scouting things out and posting about their experiences.

Any update on this?? I'm booked at Stovalls as well for the Star Wars race weekend and have always liked cutting through the GCH and just getting a taste of staying on property. Love that lobby! This new update makes me a little sad. Is the new route only for entering DTD and the pass. Can we exit through GCH when going back to Stovalls at the end of the day?
