Whats the best way to get from John Wayne airport to Disneyland?? And how long of a drive do you think it would be on a Friday night around 10ish??? Also driving back to the airport a saturday morning around 10 am?? Thanks for any info!
Tell me about the shuttle, please. We'll be arriving about 8 p.m. on a Wednesday night and leaving on a Thursday night (flight at 9:45). How does the shuttle work upon arrival and also for return? Do you have to make a reservation?
I'm usually alone or with one other person when I fly into John Wayne. I never make reservations for the shuttle. There are always several lined up ready to go. However, if you have a larger group you might want to make reservations online.
Beware though...Yesterday I tried to take advantage of a $2.00 AAA discount when booking online and the price they gave me was $24.00 for the first person/$9.00 for additional persons, instead of the $10.00 I normally pay when I just walk on. I tried to call and speak to someone but there were 24 calls ahead of me and I didn't have time to wait. You should not have to pay more than $10.00 per person so don't fall for the $24.00 if you decide to make reservations ahead of time.
When you get on the shuttle at the airport, they will give you a business card when they drop you off at your hotel. Just call the number at least 24 hours ahead of time to make your reservations to return to the airport. Hope that helps!
The previous poster is most likely talking about SuperShuttle, and it's pretty easy. Yes reservations are needed for the way back; picking up at the airport isn't as important, but I've always made them anyway.
If you have little kids, you'll need their carseats, as it is a van with seatbelts.
When getting a quote online or when booking, be SURE to use the "hotel/landmark" instead of the zipcode. Using the zipcode will get you a higher price. So use the hotel instead.
There is also the bus option, as Grayline runs Disneyland Express. No carseats for that, as it is a bus without seatbelts. There's a discount for booking it online. From the airport, it goes first to the Disneyland Hotel, and people going to other hotels sometimes have to change buses. Going TO the airport, it picks up everywhere else, and the last pickup before actually heading to the airport is the Disneyland Hotel.

The last 3 times we have gone we haven't bothered with any reservations. We just walk to the shuttle area and there is always on of the cheaper white ones (not super shuttle) leaving within about 10-15 minutes for $10 each.
Coming back it depends on what we have planned that day. If it's busy and we are leaving earlier we just take a taxie or a towncar ( many times when we ask the hotel about taxies they have towncars they work with which is typically about the same price)
If we are flying out later in the evening we typically call whatever shuttle company brought us in the morning and use them if they have a shuttle available.
We've called within 2 hours of leaving and have never had a problem getting a shuttle although we never count on it.
