From cash to points

Our home resort is akv we are trying to get a 2 br for dec 31-jan 3 but there is no availability..I just checked the wdw website and they have 2 br's at several places for the dates we want..Instead of waiting the 7 months could I book with cash and then change to points..anyone ever done this?

Cash inventory and points inventory are entirely separate. There may not be any points inventory available even now at the resorts where you saw cash rooms. If you want to use points for this stay, your best bet is to get on a waitlist at your home resort and then at 7 months call to see if other resorts are available. New Years Eve is tough to get, so the sooner you get on a waitlist the better. Good luck!

The time period you are talking about is THE most difficult to get at VWL! It is a time when you should really have used your 11 month booking window. I highly doubt there will be much now or at the 7 month window. I agree with Jean...get on a waitlist ASAP. You might be best off to take ANYTHING at this point.

Thanks I do have a 1 br booked and I am also on the waitlist. So I will be calling May 31 early..

That's good that you have something booked anyway. I would call right at 9 am so you can be early on the waitlist too. You might get lucky...who knows?
