Hi! I live in Australia and myself and my twin sister are thinking about a trip to disneyland early next year. This is our second trip, we came over in 2004 and I think it was around the first or second week of March, midweek it was really quiet and we were able to walk right on most of the rides, it was great!! Just wondering if the beginning of march is still a good time to visit? Are there usually any holidays etc in March? I would like to go in the value season also....when is that usually? Also, which onsite hotel is the best? Are the onsite hotels nice, we stayed at an onsite at WDW last year, it was a delux expensive hotel and I was horrified, it was not worth the money, very dirty and I was sooo dissapointed!!! I'd hate to pay that much again and be dissapointed. Hope someone can help with my questions! Thanks in advance. :Pinkbounc

Early March is typically a great time to go. The 50th anniv will be over by then, and things should be back to normal seasons. I'm not sure the exact dates for value season next year, but if you go the first 2 weeks or so, of March, you should be fine. The closer you get to Easter, the more people on spring break are at the park.

For hotel- the Grand Calif. is the best of the 3.

Hi there fellow Aussie :)

Value Season is between these dates for 2006 (1/3/06 - 4/6/06; 4/23/06 - 6/29/06; 9/3/06 - 11/21/06; 11/26/06 - 12/21/06). American dates so the days and months are backwards :D

The onsite hotels are very nice, but VERY expensive... Try looking at the moderate good neighbor hotels, like Candy Cane Inn, Park Vue (Place?), Anabella etc... that are within walking distance...

I'm staying at the Anabella this August... GREAT Price and it's looks nice too... Some people have given it average review, but I think that is because it's not geared towards kids... As a general rule adults have given it good reviews... www.anabellahotel.com

Hope that helps a little

Welcome! We went Sept 2003 - Monday after school started - 2nd week in September. Virtually empty upon opening. No lines for rides at either park all day.

Most US schools don't have their spring break until late March (after the 36th or so this year). March should be a great time. Note that weekends in general have been busier this year with the 50th than years past.

If staying at a Disney hotel, I'd suggest the GC - expensive, but decidely Disney (and a tad cheaper than the same class in Florida).

But if not the GC, I'd opt for a cheaper place on Harbor. So far my favorites are the Del Sol and Candy Cane. Motels to be sure, but very nice and you cannot beat the location.

After the 36th? What calendar do you use? :rotfl2:

I believe the OP is planning on a trip in 2007, so they 50th should be over by then and back to normal off season crowds in March.

Another Aussie here.

We went first week of December 2004 and it was empty. US School holidays start around a week before Christmas and I know from that time on it gets crazy. We also got great deals on hotels everywhere in early December and the weather was cool to warm - just perfect for travelling around, though not for the beach or swimming.

We found this website helpful for picking good times to go - http://www.scottware.com.au/theme/feature/crowds.htm.

It also helps to go mid week (although you'll get longer hours and more chance of big shows like Fantasmic on weekends out of season).
