i'll be staying at the All Star movies resort and my wife absolutely wants to head to the Orlando Premium outlets to shop. What's the best and cheapest way to get there? I was told that you guys have all the transportation answers! Please bare in mind that I'm a newbie so I don't know all the slang or abbreviations.

Well this is what we did....We took the resort bus to downtown disney and then called a cab and took it over...it was $10-$15. ea way....

Now in saying that....we rent a car for the first day every year to do our shopping...it costs about the same as a taxi both ways but we have it for 24 hrs and we go to all our fave outlets.....This year for end of July I have an economy car for $33.+ for the day at Alamo. I will keep looking as I may try to get $10 day for weekend.

do you rent the car at one of the resorts?

A one-day car rental might cost a little more than a round-trip taxi ride, but it's a much more flexible option. It will allow you to go to more than one place for shopping, dining, and grocery stops.

There are two places on Walt Disney World (WDW) property to rent a car: the Disney Car Car Center, which is a stand-alone facility near the Magic Kingdom park (MK), and the Dolphin Hotel, which is a non-Disney hotel in the Epcot resorts area. Both can be reached from All-Star Movies (ASMO) via the WDW transportation system (buses, boats, and monorails). Both are rental locations for National and Alamo (which are both owned by the same parent corporation and are the official rental cars of WDW).

There are also rental counters for several other agencies in the hotels on Hotel Plaza Blvd, which in in the Downtown Disney area. These hotels are not on the WDW transportation system, but are reachable by taking a bus to Downtown Disney and walking a short distance.

For my money, the convenience of renting at one of the on-site Alamo/National locations is worth a few extra bucks.

I always rent my car before I go....but 2 years ago my sister and her family came and wanted to rent a car out of the blue...so we called Budget from AK and we got one for $32. for the next day so I got mine then too and cancelled the other one, it was with Budget too!!!!

It is better to go to Downtown Disney and get a taxi from there - is the savings that significant?
