From Afghanistan to Disney World

Just booked a surprise trip to Disney for my hubby in august when he gets home from Afghanistan!!! SO excited!! It will also be like our second honeymoon! We got married in October, honeymoon in November and he left in December. I'm getting through this last part of deployment by planning this trip! I have been reading the threads for ideas but still getting used to this site. After months and months of MRE's he is ready for some good food and he LOVES breakfast so I have just reserved Chef Mickey's and Boma's for breakfast. Also, just read about and considering the Wishes's dessert buffet.. yummmy!!! He celebrated his 21st birthday over there.. any ideas of where to celebrate in Disney?? If anyone has any suggestions let me know! Thanks

Congrats and welcome to the boards. If you like steak I would so LeCelliar for a romantic dinner. Also a carriage ride around WL is a nice break from the chaos of the parks.

It's somewhat pricey, but a romatic dinner at Victoria and Albert's might be nice.

My hubby is a Marine, too. When we got married in 2007, he was already doing work-ups for a MEU and then he deployed 3 months after our wedding. We have managed to take a few small trips since then, but we are doing our honeymoon in August at the Beach Club. It will definately be nice to have some adult only time away from the USMC.

My DH is also in Afganistan. We will be in WDW for most of his R&R this Aug. Have fun planning, and enjoy your time together in WDW. You both deserve it!!!
