The past two trips my family of 5 stayed in a 2 bedroom villa at OKW. Both trips we spent much of the time at the resort and we were incredibly happy with the amenities of the villa. We have a reservation for 4 of us at POFQ and although I want to stay there it’ll lack in some areas. It’ll be another resort/Disney Springs focused trip and a chance to try more of the menu items at FQ QS and get beignets more often. Just curious about how to embrace this change and wondering if anyone else has experienced something similar.

Sometimes we stay deluxe, other times value for fast trips, but for most (not all), of our stays, we love the resorts even with those that have different accommodations and space. Most of the resorts have some great qualities and POFQ is wonderful, it's our fave moderate and preferred resort even over some of the deluxes like OKW and SSR. We love the small footprint of POFQ, the boat to Disney Springs and of course, the beignets :) Now if you were doing a split stay between the two for your one trip, always put the nicer accommodations on the last part of your stay, nobody wants to go down in perceived amenities. But overall, disney resorts are not really all that amentized (when compared to international chains like a real deluxe/5 star hotel like a 4 Seasons), so outside of the smaller space, OKW and POFQ are not that far off in overall resort accommodations.

A 2br villa at OKW is really nice. We've stayed there with extended family, and it was perfect. We have also stayed in a 2 br villa at BCV. The switch to a regular resort room is a big change. You will miss the amenities that a villa gave you. And the room will feel crowded with four people. But it is doable. :)

When we decided to try a moderate resort, we were surprised to find that it wasn't too bad. We stayed at POR and it has been nice enough that we have returned several times.

What the mix of people, 2 adults 2 younger kids? When my kids were younger(under 9) we did the moderate resorts and it was doable. Now that there teenagers there's is no way I would do that size room.

Are you booking one or two rooms?
We’re getting one room. It’s just me, my spouse, and my two boys 11 and 15. The boys don’t need a lot of bathroom time, and it’s only a four night stay. We stayed at Pop last year and were fine in one room. This’ll help us decide if we should go ahead and purchase OKW DVC.

Honestly, that is where we were in 1996. We found it tight with an 8 yo. We too, enjoy our villa. Besides the spaciousness, the private outdoor space is important to us.

We took a tour and that was it. I'd get ready to write that check LOL!

:welcome:

This is how you embrace it- as an experiment! Are the resort amenities good enough that if you have 2 rooms at Pop/POFQ you don’t need DVC to enjoy your vacations these next couple years? (“2 rooms” because you probably have no more years of boys those ages being willing to share a bed after this. “couple years” because once the 15yo hits college age he may or may not join you on future trips.)

For four days-I say-try out the one bedroom. As long as everyone is in a positive state of mind about doing the one bedroom, I don't see it as an issue. Have fun.
