Hello DISers! Has anyone had trouble with their Frogg Togs getting moldy/ mildew?

I bought three last year to use on our trip to Hershey Park in the summer. I only used one. I stored it (damp) in a ziplock bag. I didn't need to use it again until this past May. when I took it out of the bag, it was covered in black mold. I tried washing it but that didn't help so I threw it out. I had it stored in a ziplock bag, so I thought maybe that was the problem. I opened the other two since the other one was moldy. After using them I stored them in the container and actually put one in the frig (I read somewhere that someone keeps theirs in the frig). I just opened both cases to see if they were okay and the one in the frig has mold on it, but the one I kept out is still okay. They are both in the washing machine as I type this.

Has this been a problem for anyone else? What is going wrong?

We wash ours after use and store them dry. We have never had a problem.

i wash them in the washing machine with a bit of bleach before/after use. note this may make your frogg toggs/chilly pads fade.

roll them up to strore in the tubes they come in.

for long term storage, i rotate them half in/out the tube until they are completely dry.

tried the fridge method and still got mold.

just re-wet them to use.

Oh! The directions say to store them damp so that is what I have been doing. Maybe that is the problem. The directions also say do not use bleach on them. So, it won't hurt to use bleach?

thanks everyone! I will store them dry from now on! In the meantime, I'm going to bleach the mold out of the other one.

Unfortunately any biological material you put in sealed plastic will have mould develop over time, just for a day is okay but let it dry out and put it in the plastic case:)

I have the frogg togs. After storing them moist as it says to do, they smelled like mildew. Did not see any mold. after letting them dry out they didn't smell. Even when I wet them again. I will be storing my dry from now on. If it gets stuck together don't pull it apart, just wet it as is, until it doesn't stick.
