FRIPP island?

bout SC on DIS...Love it!

Oh my but I'm almost more confused! LOL.

Fripp Island does have a Camp Fripp for kids fyi that I've read about. I'll look into Kiawah island as well.

I found a house on Hunting Island....how cool does this look??

Edisto and Hunting sound nice....
Marsh Harbour? Is this Harbour?

So confused.

Trish

Last time I was there, it was Harbor, and occasionally Harbour. I am not sure where the Marsh Harbor came from, unless it is a recent change.

Hunting Island houses book very quickly (sometimes a year ahead) so be sure and look into it ASAP if you are interested.

Jama thanks for the tip...near beach club and center. I'll check into that. I've been looking at VRBO.

Good to know about hunting island.

I didn't realize there were houses there until I searched. Seemed to be in my 'reading' that it was a state park with camping.

Thanks so much for all the great ideas and tips.

Trish,
Look at www.fripptrip.com
We stayed in the house "Bikini Bottom" last year and are staying there again this year. Very close to beach
Nice layout of the house also.

bikini bottom...

I received an email from them because I must have signed up last year when we were thinking of going...

Is this close to the middle of the island where activities are? Thanks.
Those ocean fronts look great but wowza the price jumps...
We're a group of 3 families and this would be sooo affordable...

We are a group of 3 couples with 7 kids total...2 girls 6 and 8, 5 boys 9,7,5,4,3. Wow I'm worn out just writing that out...:O)

Only problem I'm seeing is no other double or queen bed for the other adults... Is there a room where we can do an aero bed and still have privacy? Thanks.

Trish

We find many star fish and sand dollars in the ocean- (no, we don't keep them).
Just FYI: If you find a sand dollar that is covered in thin hair -- well, hair is a poor word choice, perhaps thin, sparse fur is more descriptive -- and the whole thing is EXACTLY the same color brown as the sand, it's ALIVE. Living sand dollars are hard to find. It's actually illegal to take living sand dollars from the beach. On the other hand, if you find a white sand dollar, which has been rubbed smooth by the sand and waves, the critter inside is dead. There's no harm in keeping those.

We didn't find a whole lot of sand dollars at Fripp (we were there in the summer), but we found TONS of the okay-to-keep type at Hunting Island (at Thanksgiving). Perhaps it was the season?

I really don't know why people are saying Fripp is so expensive. We find it is less expensive compared to Myrtle Beach, Hilton Head, or Kiawah.
Without having looked at prices in a while, I'd have ranked them in this order for price:

Myrtle -- inexpensive
Hilton Head -- a big step up from Myrtle in both cost and quality, also a very different atmosphere
Kiawah and Fripp -- equal in cost, actually very equal in most ways

Seriosuly considering a house in Fiddler's that seems to have enough bedrooms with bed arrangements to suit our needs....there are also a couple in the Ocean Point/Creek Areas...are these the same area?

How's are these areas? I know middle island is 'best'...I can't afford the ones with 5 or more bedrooms...

Here is a map of fripp

Ocean Creek and Ocean Point are not the same. There is no beach at the Ocean Point, New Haven area.
I don't think we have driven around the Fiddler's area. There are some nice houses down near the cabana club area which has good pools. And playground nearby.
The best beach is the center near the beach club.
But you can load up your golf carts and drive to beach access from where ever you stay.
Will you spend most time in the ocean or pools? We spend most of our time in the ocean/beach so I like being close because of several times of going in/out during the day. But I agree bigger than 4 bedrooms is $$$.
