Do you know if DCL does Friendship Rocks on the Wonder like they do on the Magic? They didn't do it on the Fantasy. Thank you!

Yup, only the Wonder and the Magic do it! Usually on cruises of five days or longer though.

I noticed it on the recent navigators 12 and under.

Yes, its a programme through the Oceaneer club and Lab, so children have to be checked in to participate, but it takes place in the WDT and anyone can go and watch.

Yup they did it the week before last in Alaska. I was bummed though my daughter decided last minute not to do it.

Can you explain what friendship rocks are?
Kids from the Club/Lab put on a little show in the WD theater. They sing and they show pictures on a screen that have been taken during the week. Mickey comes out and dances with them at the end. Very cute.

Just out of curiosity, does anyone know why it isn't offered on the other ships? My kids participated in FR on the Wonder a few years ago and now we're getting ready to go on the Fantasy for our 2nd DCL cruise. We loved FR and I'm disappointed that it won't be on our cruise.

I have heard it's because there are too many kids on the larger ships.

I find that really annoying too. I think they could do two sessions if it is that there are too many kids. It seems like they just do not want to bother. I wouldn't be surprised if they stopped doing it on the small ships at some point. The trend with Disney definitely seems to be higher prices, less for your money.

it isn't a sign up organized thing. The kids that are in the show, are in the Club about an hour before the show in WDT. Then they practice the moves and songs in the club and go down to WDT to perform. Very casual, so with the thought that all kids would participate perhaps the larger ships have too many children. Remember also staff has to be in club as well (while show is going on) so staffing can be the culprit.

I believe that its because on the bigger ships there are too many children and its not as easy or safe to get them down to the theatre. Remember the kids wait outside/backstage for a good few minutes before they go on stage so theres space issues too.

Its just something that has never been offered on the Dream or Fantasy. Just like theres a number of things that are offered on the Dream or the Fantasy that have never been available on the Magic or the Wonder...

I know but it has just always bothered me. And I see no reason why they cannot do it. Even is they have to organize it a bit differently. I will not be surprised if they get rid of it on the classic ships because it actually requires effort.

I suppose part of it is to get you to go on different ships...
I dont think they'd get rid of it because its 'effort', thats not Disney's way. Its a popular programme that everyone enjoys (including counsellors). Theres a lot more within YA that takes a lot more effort... If they were to get rid of it, it would be due to ratio issues (lack of staff), guest complaints or lack of popularity...

I hope you are right. Unfortunately, my impression of dcl and Disney in general is that they are on a trajectory of taking away guest experiences.

Thank you.....more kids making it too difficult to run Friendship Rocks makes sense. This will be our first time on the Fantasy and we are SO looking forward to our trip.... Friendship Rocks or not! :)
