Friendship Boat service to DHS closing for refurbishment **important update #7**

I already did post this on the Transportation forum, but since this closure can significantly impact a lot of people in their resort planning, and some people might not visit many other forums here on a regular basis and miss it, I thought it a good fit here also. Big impact for the 7 Epcot area resorts.

It will really depend on how long the bridge is down. Since the Friendships stop on May 7 and for an undetermined length of time. The impact could be light, medium or a major impact.

The fact that Disney will be adding bus service to Hollywood Studios for the impacted resorts does help offset the impact so some extent but not completely.

OMG. HELP. I just saw this this morning. My elderly mother and I check into BWV this coming Tues (May 15). She isn't able to walk the distance around the lake to BC/YC, which we enjoy visiting, shopping, and dining at. Does this mean our only option will be to get a taxi?! Please reply ASAP, as I was already considering possibly changing resorts (if at all possible)!

The boat will still run between the Boardwalk area resorts and to the IG. Just not over to Hollywood Studios.

Interesting. I'm on the phone with Disney right now and they are telling me they are refurbing the dock at BW and there will be no FriendShip service.

My goodness. This took a couple of phone calls! I got past the initial Cast Member, finally to someone in Guest Services. After she investigated and called me back, apparently whoever is supposed to share this information with other stakeholders hadn't! They did confirm the FriendShips are just not running to HS and all indications are they are still running to the hotels. (I didn't care to dig into the situation at Swan/Dolphin! LOL!)
