Do you have any friends who work for food companies? Aren't they just the best with their little freebies and discounts and bags of seconds? I love them. We have a new friend who, it turns out, works for Pepperidge Farms. So right now I have 4 loaves of cinnamon swirl bread and a 5 pound bag of those shortbread cookies on our counter. I think this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship..

A cousin's DH works for the company who makes Splenda. I have 5 boxes of Splenda. He's okay.

But my favorite friend ever is the lady who works for Godiva!! She comes to visit, we get Godiva chocolate. My Christmas gift - Godiva chocolate pretzels and hot cocoa. Our Boy Scout banquet favors...Godiva chocolates. I think she needs to move in with us. :upsidedow

Isn't it fun???????????? We have a friend who works in packaging ~ she designs the packages to ship products. So she will get crates of products to test her shipping designs on. We've gotten chips, candy, cookies, spices, shaving cream, and, a month or so ago, we got MACE! <lol>

Enjoy your goodies!

Work for a trucking company, that does hauling for a national ice cream chain. There are those times when there are rejects due to over shipping or wrong product. It's at times like those when you are looking at dozens of boxes of goodies and cases of gallon sized ice cream cartons, that they can't take back, so we have to dispose of it. We dispose of it all right....right into our tummies.

The last time we had a really big reject, I had DH come and load up and take it to my mom and dad, so that we could load up their nearly empty deep freezer. We took 25 gallons of ice cream, a couple dozen boxes of fruit bars and popcicles. There was still plenty of items for the rest of the people I work with to get a good share of ice cream heaven. We just happened to be the only ones with access to a lot of open freezer space.

My dad is a truck driver. He will sometimes have "damaged" boxes. Really, if a corner on the box is a little wrinkled, they reject the box. He brings home lots of goodies! If he is on the road and it is something disposable he will do his best to find a shelter that will take the donation. A couple of months ago he had an entire truck load of peaches that were turned away because the person didn't like the look of one case. So he found a local shelter and they were more than happy to take them.

Growing up, a friend of mine was related to one of the owners of Paul Sebastian perfume. We used to get paid to put the little samples on cards and we would keep a few for ourselves. Not so exciting, but it was at the time when I was 8.

ETA: sorry, I just realized it said food companies. So, no I have nothing to share. I'm going away now :)

My husband is a salesman for a brokerage who carries a number of national lines so I go for groceries in his trunk. He also trades products with other salesman so I usually just have to shop for fresh fruit and vegetables and meat. I love it!!!

Our neighbor is a truck driver and brings home many rejected boxes. Pasta salad, macaroni salad, big chunks of cheese, hot dogs. Usually they have him send back to more expensive meats because apparently the big wigs take those. He never gets boxes of rejected t-bones. ;)

My neighbor works for Frito Lay, so we get lots of chips. It's great, but sometimes I just don't know what to do with 14 bags of Cheetos.

Hey, that's okay, a freebie is a freebie!:woohoo:

<sigh!> I need a friend at Starbucks or Dunkin Donuts so I can get free bags of coffee. :drinking1

One of the chemistry professors when I was an undergrad used to work for Nabisco in the analytical chem department, and he still had many contacts there so they were always sending him free stuff, which he would then pass on to his students. Those were some good times.

My grandparents both retired from Quaker Oats, so we've always got TONS of oatmeal and cap'n crunch cereal on hand, plus all the little snack bars and whatnot. i think right now we have more rice-a-roni and aunt jemima syrup than we know what to do with! :lmao:

I work for a large co-packer (we pack for many national brands) of bottled/jar items.

I never have to purchase pasta sauces, bbq sauces, ketchups, ice cream toppings, maraschino cherries, jalapeno peppers, salad dressings, simmer sauces, salsas, garlic, olives, sun dried tomatoes, etc.

Of course I would trade all of the above for the Godiva connection.

My youngest brother works at Fanny May! :goodvibes

I work with a guy who has a part time job at....

Ladies, sit down...

...prepare yourselves...

He has a part time job at:

GODIVA CHOCOLATES!

And yes, he gets tons of freebies and goodies and shares them!

ahhhh....Mother's Cookies! A dear friend's husband worked for Mother's Cookies and when they got a divorce, she started dating and ended up marrying a "higher-up" at Mothers'. We said she traded up for a bigger cookie!

My boss' DH used to own Josef Schmitt chocolates. We'd always get a cute little boxed truffle at Christmastime.

My Bf's aunt works for Pepsi so everyone in the family has lots of Pepsi products on hand for any occasion. :woohoo:

My uncle works for ScJohnson (sp?) so at Christmas we each get a whole box of items from Ziplock and Glade. I very rarely have to buy candles or ziplock bags for that matter.

Then we get all types of freebies from the food delivery people that deliver to the restaurant I work p/t at. We're always really nice to them, so any rejects they have they think of us.:goodvibes
