"Friends" just got back and hated it!

I have a friend who said he didn't especially like it. I asked him if he at least liked Pirates. He said he didn't see it. Not didn't go on it, but didn't SEE the building at all! So I asked about Haunted Mansion. That one he saw but didn't go into. It turned out he'd only gone on one ride (space mountain, which he loved) the entire day because he kept walking by anything that had a line.

Seriously, the only thing we can do is GO WITH THEM. lol

ROFLMAOOOOOO, I went in April 1999, it was the week after Easter, I had NO clue it would be so crowded, because # 1 I am from Mass and our school vacation was the week after I was going (little did I know that 49 other states would be there THIS week) and this was before I met THE DIS! Anyway the lines were longgggggg, it was 3 adults and a my 3 yo DD......did I mention the lines were long.....but we had a great time, it was 90 every day and oh did I mention the lines? I mean not just lines, we are talking LINES. Dumbo first thing in the AM when the park opened was like a 1 hour wait. At Universal there was a 3 hour wait for Back to the Future. Anyway we did all we could and loved every bit of it! Do I blame Disney, nope I blame me, heee he heeee! Because man DID I MENTION THOSE LINES? Kali River Rapids I waited 2 hours! LOL! But I LOVEDDDDDDD it! I LOVE Disney, can I jump outta my skin now because I am leaving in a MINUTEEEEEEEEEEE wooooooohoooooo!!!!!

Some people call me a nut for how much planning I have been doing with Parks and potential PS's with backups, etc.

People on this board realize that if you want your trip to be stress free, you need to endure a little stress before hand.

As for those people who don't listen..... Either they'll learn, or continue to stress at Disney. I can't imagine wanting to bring my everday stresses their with me. Almost a waste of time.

So here's a cheer for us Disney "nut bars"!

Well, I love Disney, but for my DH it is a different story. His biggest complaint was also the rude people. And by people, I mean the ones that butt in line, and when you confront them about it, they act as if they don't know the English language. But it's funny, they can read all the signs in the parks, and definately know United States currency!!

For those who are timid about taking your kids out of school--just do it! We have done this on numerous trips. Teachers are very good about it, the kids have great grades, and crowds are light.

My thought is, will your kids remember just another week in school when they're 30 years old, or will they remember the week in Disney? This is a no-brainer for us. Early on, we put priorities on having quality experiences as a family. We are by no means rich, but our kids have backpacked in Yellowstone, hiked through the Canadian Rockies, tide pooled in California and Maine, and have been to some of the finest museums in the continent.

As stated, our children get good grades. Partly because we have emphasized that if they want to take nice trips when they are older, they need good grades to get good jobs to do it. And they will need good jobs because they will be taking Mom and Dad on the trips with them!

See, I’ve got this all planned out…it’s the circle of life!

Now that's something else. . someone who thinks it's strange to go to Disney more than once, but will go to the casinos in Biloxi! Now *that* is boring! My h and I booked a weekend at a casino in Biloxi, and after the first night I was ready to come home! Boooring! Nothing to do there but eat and gamble!

Disney, OTOH, could keep you busy for weeks~!

Bummer they feel that way, but to each his/her own! Sort of on the same topic... I'm going to teach my boys that they need to marry someone who loves WDW as much as they do. lol (Because people who don't like WDW have something wrong with them! )

This is the first time I'm planning out my vacation to the hilt. Every time I do a little more planning. My wife has ussually handled the planning, or lack thereof, in the past. This time we're going on the silver and I want to get our money's worth.

But just so you don't get upset with people that don't listen, please keep in mind that it is entirely possible to go at peak times, not plan, and still have a good time. I don't know if we just got lucky or what. Although I do admit the more planning I do the better time we have.

This reminds me of the time I asked my DD's classmate and her family how they liked their trip to WDW. Their reply "Well, it was Ok, but there wasn't much to do. We really don't like rides..."

Ah, I'm not sure they actually found their way to WDW - I think they accidently went to a Six Flags...

My brother in law went in July also, walked around all day and just sat on benches while his then wife and kids went on rides..he hated it and said there is nothing for adults there at all.

A co-worker whom I helped go to WDW, got to three parks and stayed a few hours in each, as the kids just wanted to swim (they went in August) and only spent a an hour at Epcot, said it was small and kinda worthless as all of World Showcase out there was just fast food places and souvenir shops so they skipped it....

More room for us, more room for us....so I am not complaining. Let them go back to Las Vegas, Branson, Gatlinburg, Panama City Beach or wherever they prefer..I am not forcing them to like it at WDW..I love lower crowds...

Fortunatly the people I've helped trip plan have all come back wanting to go again My "dream" would be to have a Magical Gathering for our family (parents,4 sibs and spouses and 8 kids 7 of which are currently all under 5) this would be so fun to watch all the kids but I'm from a family that doesn't get it.so I don't anticipate this happening.either things cost too much, it's too crowded, too hot every excuse in the book..if they'd only open their minds and listen to me I know they'd have a good time (kicking and screaming all the way)..Everybody has their own laughing place

I too find it hard to believe that anyone could hate WDW, but it happens. Everyone is not alike. We've been going since it opened almost and bought into DVC waayyy back in 1991 as soon as it started. Some relatives and friends of ours have gone and absolutely HATED it, never to go back again. They stare at us in disbelief when we tell them that we go most times twice a year, always during crowded times (DH is a teacher, I don't think parents would like it if he took off!! LOL!!) and have every intention of going forever!! Yet these are the same people who bought a house on the beach or go to the same rented house every year and just sit! To me that is boring. To each their own. You can't teach someone about the magic, they have to find it themselves. Some people get it and some don't. That's why I like these boards. Just ignore the non-believers, don't let them bring you down. I love Disney and really don't care what some people think, IMHO they (and their kids and grandkids) are losing out. WDW is and will always be for my family the most magical place on earth!!

My sister and her husband decided to go to WDW for their honeymoon after hearing all about the trips my wife and I had taken...including our honeymoon. We tried to help them plan however, they didn't quite seem to grasp the importance of our experience over the past years. Our first suggestion to them was that they needed to stay onsite as they were flying into Orlando and wouldn't have transportation...well, my brother-in-law's mom had already taken care of a timeshare for them...he was thrilled about it and kept saying how it was "at the maingate of Disney" and how they could just walk to the parks...since he didn't grasp the size of WDW I told him "at the gates" meant close to Disney property but no where close to walking distance..I suggested they stay in a value resort even though they already had the timeshare....I was going to give them discount codes and the full run down...however they decided against it and ended up spending close to $500 on taxis running back and forth from the parks. This left them short on spending money and they spent most of their time cooking ramen noodles and macaroni and cheese in their timeshare. Outside of this craziness my brother in law ran into the back of my sisters foot with the shopping cart at the grocery store...which she found reason enough to get a wheelchair for at the parks (don't worry, I gave her my thoughts on people abusing wheelchairs in the park) ....anyway during one of the normal Florida storms one day they said it was raining so hard they became scared to death when running with the wheelchair at the fact that it was starting to hydroplane ....anyway they spent all of their trip on these crazy adventures and didn't see anything at the parks. When we returned from our last trip they were amazed at everything they saw on our vacation video and sorry they hadn't taken as much advice as they should have.

There dates were sometime between April 19th-23rd not sure which days they were in parks.

We were there during that time, too - we thought that the crowds would be OK because it was the week after the week after Easter, and so we thought spring break would be over. But it was still spring break in new england and especially Boston, so the crowds were very heavy. I don't blame them for going to the beach one day. We'll never go again during April, even if there is an early easter/spring break every where else.
