Wednesday 6th November

We realised about now that we may as well get a F&WF wristband gift card. Daniel loved being able to order the items we wanted and use this to pay.

Next on the agenda was an Epcot staple – fish and chips from Yorkshire County Fish Shop. We all shared this, although I have to say I thought the portion of fish was particularly small on this trip.

We managed to find a table in the garden area to perch at. While we were eating, I heard somebody say my name and did that double take when you look up, think they can’t be talking to you as you are miles from home and don’t know anybody here, then realise they are talking to you. It was my friend, Jean, who was here with her hubby. We had a little chat about our trips and then we parted company.

The next stop was not a F&WF booth either but another Epcot necessity – pour moi (see what I did there?). No visit to Epcot is complete without at least one of these little beauties.

The kids and Gary had their own treats from the kiosk next door.

We sat in the sunshine and enjoyed our treats, before moving on. Next stop was Belgium, for the Belgian Waffle with warm chocolate ganache and whipped cream.

This was very nice, although a little too much whipped cream for me.

In Japan, we stopped to watch Miyuki at work. I had read that Miyuki was soon to stop performing at Epcot and, having never seen her before, we were keen to make sure we caught one of her performances today. She really is incredibly talented, if a little eccentric.

She made several things, including a flamingo, scorpion, dragon and dog. She wasn’t giving any of her masterpieces away today, as they were being donated to a charity or something, and she said so several times during her performance. But there were still a lot of disappointed children, whose parents had clearly told them that if they got to choose what she made, they would also get to keep it afterwards. She did let the kids go up and have a picture holding their choice of sugary animal though – Daniel decided he liked the scorpion.

We wandered through into the American Adventure, where, as predicted, Daniel was disappointed yet again not to get his American Dream as the machines had been taken away for the duration of the festival. He allowed himself to be consoled by the purchase of an over-priced, sweet (and frankly rather disgusting) frozen slush called a Doofenslurper.

Doofenslurper in hand(s), we continued on to the Florida booth, where we partook (is that word?) in a Grass-fed Beef Slider and a glass of Key Lime wine.

The slider was essentially just a burger – and, no, I still don’t like them – and the wine was very, very sweet. Everybody liked the burger except me and nobody drank the wine except me. Win win!

As we were planning to come back later, we decided to head back to the resort for a while. On the way out, we stopped for some more Photopass pictures and a meet and greet with Rapunzel and Flynn.

Daniel and I were messing about with ‘trick’ photos on the way back but, due to a combination of his lack of patience and my need for the toilet, only one came out halfway decent.

It was later than we thought when we got back and we really only had time to have brief showers and sort out some more stuff for packing before heading out for an early dinner, tonight at an old favourite – Chilis. We had debated not going out at all as we knew there was more than enough in the way of snacks to keep us going at the F&WF but the kids were keen to go. Tonight’s dinner was actually courtesy of Wendy and Rich, who had very kindly bought us a Chilis gift card when they stayed with us in May.

We started with an order of mozzarella sticks, which Sian, Daniel and I shared.

Gary opted for the ribs – a full rack no less!

Daniel got a pizza – looks like pepperoni.

Steak, chicken and shrimp fajitas for Sian.

And, as a creature of habit, I had to have my favourite – chicken crispers.

We skipped dessert, knowing there were more treats to come tonight, paid the check (which was minimal once the gift card had been deducted) and drove back to the hotel.

We set off for Epcot again, by way of the Boardwalk (funny how Gary didn’t insist on going ‘his’ way this evening).

We stopped outside the Flying Fish to watch a performer and Daniel was picked to help him with a trick. He had to mess up the Rubiks Cube and hand it back to the guy who, blindfolded, would try to solve it. It was quite impressive but he kept asking what colours were facing him and were in particular positions so I wasn’t that impressed. I much prefer the magician, Brian, who used to be here. But this guy was nice enough and even posed for a picture afterwards.

Back in Epcot, we set off towards Mexico, having decided to make our way around World Showcase from the other end this evening. We had to take the obligatory Mexican hat picture.

In Norway, Daniel signed up to do an Agent P mission so we decided to have a snack from Bakeri og Kafe. A yummy sweet pretzel, with icing and chocolate drizzle.

After Daniel and Sian completed their mission, we wandered slowly through World Showcase, ending up in Italy just before Illuminations was about to start. I had offered to purchase a couple of World Showcase wine glasses for a DIS friend so popped in to the wine shop to get them. Unfortunately, as it was so late, they weren’t able to offer package pick-up or hotel delivery so we had to carry them. I was paranoid that they would get broken but the CM wrapped them well and they were fine.

We found a spot in Italy to watch Illuminations. Epcot was absolutely heaving this evening so we didn’t get a very good spot but we could see well enough. I didn’t get any good pictures though. In fact, only one was (sort of) worth posting.

After Illuminations was over, we wandered slowly through World Showcase towards the International Gateway. Epcot was staying open until 11pm tonight, which meant that there were lots of people still around and all the F&WF booths were completely packed so we didn’t get any more snacks (not that we really needed to eat anything else today anyway).

At around 10, we decided to call it a night and head back to the hotel to bed.

Not much of a trick, but HE looked quite watchable ;) :thumbsup2.
I love Epcot evenings.
