My friend flew out on business to Boston on Monday and his luggage went missing, BA originally said that the bag would get on the next flight and that he would get a call to say when it was on it's way to the hotel. Anyway - it's now Wednesday and BA have said that his bag in "on hold" nobody seems to be able to tell us or him what this means, meanwhile his phone charger, work tools and everything else are in the suitcase that's gone walk about!

Does anyone have any idea as to what he can ask BA to provide for him, as he literally has the clothes that he travelled in! I don't think he is in the position to go shopping for a weeks worth of clothes due to the tight constraints he is under to get his project finished before flying back here.

Any ideas anyone?
Thanks all

Does he not have travel insurance? Depending what type he has, he should be covered for delayed luggage and after a certain amount of time (one policy varies from the next) he can make a claim for it being lost. I am assuming he has travel insurance of some sort, but not everyone takes out the luggage cover.

His next option is to contact BA customer services (again!) and tell them, not ask them, that he now wants to make a claim for emergency purchases.

Hi Tigs,
Yes his case turned up late last night! He flies home tonight I think! He managed to get a shirt and trousers from a shop nearby.

What a nightmare! :scared1:

I'm glad he got sorted - sort of. He should still make a claim for the essentials he had to purchase though. I had a run of bad experiences with luggage on BA years ago, and delayed luggage was the only problem. Other than that, they were great, but trying to get an issue resolved with them was a nightmare. It seemed that they simply absolved themselves of all liability. I landed more times without luggage than with and it got a bit old. Now in the current climate with high flight prices, I will actually consider them again, but urgh, that story just made me wonder ....
