Has anyone had the fried green tomato sandwich at Cafe Orleans? Is it similar to the ones they used to serve at the Hungry Bear??

I tired it last year. Unfortunately I never had the chance to try it at Hungry Bear so I can't help you there, but I think I've heard it's basically the same sandwich with a change in sides. It was good, but it was more bland than I was expecting and I didn't think it was worth the price. I think it would have been worth the price at the rate it used to be at Hungry Bear, but I just didn't think it was worth what they were charging at Cafe Orleans. If I remember right it came with fruit on the side.

I'll agree with the whole price argument. When it was at Hungry Bear, it was the right price. And after a week of burgers and nuggets, it was a nice switch. But for what it's priced at now, plus tip, hardly worth it. It's more of a cash grab now.

This still makes me sad as I enjoyed that sandwich, and since I've completely given up meat now it's just one less place I can find something to eat. The menu on Allears doesn't even show a vegetarian option at Hungry Bear now, though I wondered if a veggie burger may be available.

I'm going to agree with everyone. I actually liked the one at hungry bear better, and it was way cheaper. The value is not there at all at Cafe Orleans, not worth it.

They do have a veggie burger, and that's it for vegetarian options. I didn't order it, but it sounded like it was the same one they serve at all the other burger places.

I had it last week at Cafe Orlean's. As someone else mentioned, it was very bland. I found it very meh and would not order again.

I had the veggie burger at Hungry Bear this summer, it's the same one that they have at Village Haus. It bothers me that they don't put the veggie burgers on the menus either online or outside the restaurants at DLR. I'm not going to waste my time or drag around my friends or family asking if they're there, I'll just skip those places where I can't confirm it will be there. I also thank that they sell less by not advertising what's there, and may end up removing them because few people order them. But, it's not that great of a veggie burger, so I would look elsewhere anyway. At least at Smokejumper's they had the option to add grilled onions to the veggie burger.

From looking at the FGT at CO, it's a much bigger sandwich. The roll is a lot thicker and there are more slices of tomato. I don't happen to think any of the sandwiches at CO are a great value, except the monte cristo, which seems to be designed to share. But, the price of a CS sandwich is now $11-$12, so $19 for TS doesn't seem like that out of line. I do wish they'd ditch the chips, though. Either give me the choice of chips or pomme frites or I'll order an extra side of what I want.
