FRIDGE IS LOST! Hoppin' @ Pop Fridge CLOSED!

I went to Pop and looked for the fridge myself and they even let me enter the storage area. Unfortunately, it was not there. I'm afraid it is lost! At this point, I'm going to CLOSE this swap until the fridge is found (if it is ever found!) I'm so sorry to see our fridge disappear. I'm still here for another week, I can go back and check again. If I find it, I'll post here.

So, let's get these available 2010 dates filled! The less the fridge goes to storage, the better!

Our swap also includes a coffee pot! Our toaster has gone missing. Who knows if we'll ever find it.


What is a refrigerator swap?

A fridge swap is a group of DISers who will be staying at Pop Century and would like to have a refrigerator in their room without paying $10/night for a WDW fridge. A dorm-size refrigerator was purchased and is being passed from one vacationing DISer to the next on the list. Due to DISboard rules as of 04/19/09, there is no longer a cost to join the swap. However, signing up for the swap is a commitment and we need everyone to do their part to keep this Swap going. Thank you to our original swappers who contributed to the fridge! Hopefully all goes well with the fridge swap, and the fridge is successfuly passed on to the next person. Since we can't collect funds to replace it if the fridge gets lost, there willl be no fridge to swap if we can't keep track of it.

Please check the list before pming me about available dates. If you see that the dates you want are available, then pm me your request. I will ask you to provide me with the following information:

a. Full name on reservation and check-in date.
b. The reservation number.
c. Your email address.
d. The phone number that you can be reached at especially while at Disney World and whether you accept text messages.

Once you are confirmed, I will note that on the list. If you don't have your ressie number but provide me with the rest of your information, I will place you as pending on the list.

2. What do I do after I've been confirmed on the swap?

After you've been added to the list and been confirmed, check with the swapper before you and after you to make arrangements for the swap. Although I’m currently leading this swap, each of you is ultimately responsible for the fridge and making sure it gets to the next party. To that end make sure you are communicating with both the parties before and after you so we don’t lose the fridge! I recommend making initial contact fairly soon and then reconfirming arrangements before your previous party is scheduled to leave for Disney. If a face-to-face swap isn’t being arranged, insist on a claim ticket when you leave the fridge at luggage services. Contact the swapper after you and advise them of the claim ticket number. Make sure the box is labeled with the information on the name/reservation number/arrival date of the next swapper. When picking up the fridge, it may help to give the attendant at Luggage Services the name, "Hoppin' @ the Pop" Fridge Swap. I cannot stress how important it is to label the box/boxes clearly, so that luggage services can find them when requested. Please, take the few extra minutes to make sure the correct information is clearly visible and legible. This will help keep the fridge from being "lost".

If you leave the fridge at luggage services and obtain a claim ticket, please text the swapper after you with this information. Or, leave the information at the check-in desk for when they check in.

Attention swappers: If you could shoot me a quick text when you pick up the fridge, just to let me know you've got it and if it's correct and if anything is missing or broken, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks.

Please keep it clean for the next user. Bring some disinfecting wipes in a zip lock or use a washcloth with soapy water and wipe it down thoroughly. Please be considerate for the next user.

I just want to have fun with this and allow people to use a fridge for free while we can. Remember, I'm here (in Indiana) to help as much as I can. Feel free to PM me with questions and/or concerns.

Thank you Mickeefan. You have no idea how I appreciate this.

I do have a question.

It is a big giant "what if" and of course since I am asking there is no way it will ever happen now. What if we get to POP and they say "Would like an upgrade to the Poly?". Can we just put the refrigerator in storage for the next swapper and let them know?

To put your mind at ease, I would accept the fridge only to put the next swappers info on it and then give it back to luggage services. You will have the info already going down there, right?

Even though you might plan on exchanging in person, it's always good to have the person's info, cause plans do change. What if you don't like your resort? What if disney does something wonderful and you get that upgrade, who knows?

Hi there! Glad someone was able to take over. I just had the fridge through August 24th. I want to let you know:

The coffee pot was missing

It actually took 2 hours and 3 tries for me to even get the fridge. The last swapper had left her info on the fridge in addition to mine, and they stored it with her info visible. Finally they let me come in to look, and I was able to find it (since I knew her name...sort of).

I would like to reccomend that everyone take off the old labels before adding new ones.

I did see a box in storage that I believe was our coffee pot, but they wouldn't let me take it because it didn't have my name on it, and the fridge didn't have the matching swap name on the outside of the box.

Fridge worked great for me, and I was so happy to have the toaster (didn't know it was included). I usually toast my bagels in the food court, and this saved so much time.

The best way to get the coffee pot back into the swap is to see who physically had it last, and whose info they put on the box. You can call luggage services, ask them to retrieve the box with that info, once they do ask them to give it to the swapper who is currently using the fridge.

It's so important to call your swap leader while you are on your vacation to tell them that you don't have an item, so all this back tracking doesn't have to happen.

That might be hard because a new thread was started and not everyone may be reading the new thread who already participated in the swap. You'll have to post on the old thread and see if anyone answers.

Mickeefan, I know you are going down there soon. Take the pictures with you of the boxes, maybe if it doesn't get straightened out by then, they will take your word through the photo. You can also put your info on the boxes and take mine off of them.

I was considering calling luggage services when I got the list, since I don't know who was ahead of the pp to see if I could possibly straighten it out on the phone. I was also planning on looking into it when I arrive there in 3 weeks (unless it's fixed before that).

HI! Mickey fan! I think heather contacted you for me and I also PM'd you but you may need monica to assist you on this! The frig I have is not our swaps! It belongs to aswap corrdinated by Jennifer H. I contacted her in hopes that they have our frig she was suppose to have the girl heidi who has their frig contact me back I'm still waiting! This frig is a white chef mate and has their info on it! and has a white toaster no coffee pot as heather said she didnt have it either! Our frig was signed by the ppl that used it and the box was definitely different as I had it last year! I have pics of this one on my cell if someone can contact me I did pm you my cell! I don't know maybe we can figure out who had this frig 1st and figure from there I'm hoping they get back to me because I know what our frig looks like I'm here until the 3rd! I will only be on here until tomm at 11am! Ill check back leter feel free to call or text my cell! Im hoping I can help you out since you did the honors of taking the swap over!

I am actually at POP until the 17th so the fridge won't have to go into luggage services too long if we can't find disneyfan551, but I don't want her to miss out on the fridge if she's planning on it. Friday is the last day for me to check email, so I need her information before then.

I was able to get a response from her using PMs. I'm not meeting her in person, because she's leaving early the 19th and I won't get in until 5ish.

I'm still working on locating the coffee pot and last I heard, Goofy22 had the wrong fridge. She was working on getting that straightened out, but I haven't heard anything from her.

OK! I'm home! I have pics to upload of the frig and box that we currently have that is not ours! I did leave the frig with ONEMAY BAY's info on it until this gets worked out we may as well have a frig to swap! I haven't heard back from Jennifer or the heidi girl she was going to have call me! Stephanie I left some glow sticks in there put them to good use! LOL! The CM that put the frig in storage name is AYOUB! I tried sending you a text of the box with your info so you know what it looks like but it rejected it maybe you don't have texting I will try and upload the pics for you before Friday night!

Mickeyfan I have the other swaps coordinators name and number if you need it again. I'm sorry I couldn't help I guess the other swapper didn't want to be bothered but if we do relocate our frig I don't remember if our frig has it there or not but I thought it was a good idea on the actual top of the frig there is a piece of paper taped on with all the info of the swap coordinator and how to contac her that is 1 way I noticed it wasn't our frig! 2 I noticed after a few days that it wasn't signed because all of us swappers that have had the frig signed it to make it unique and see who all it went through.

On another note Mickeyfan I would like to be put back on the swap for next summer the dates are 8/19/2010 til 8/30/2010 I will PM you the confirmation number and phone number tommorrow after I check page one and make sure those dates are indeed available! Thanks again for taking over the swap!!! Sorry I couldn't be more help! I actually think I may have a pic of the frig from last yr with the signatures Ill post if I do so all know what it looks like!
