Trying to figure out what will fit into the fridge in our studio for our upcoming stay at SSR. Does anyone know if the fridge has a small freezer in it (looking to get some breakfast sandwiches and be able to freeze some bottled water for at the parks if we can bring in water) ?

Also, what other snacks do you guys get/take when staying in a studio ? We will have DDP for the three of us (me, my expecting DW:banana: , and DS (4))

And last, but not least, can I a my 12 pack in there and still have room for something for my wife and son :lmao:

Thanks,

Chris

I recently stayed in a 1-BR at Saratoga which has a full-size refrigerator/freezer. I believe the studios have what is normally referred to as a dorm refrigerator that most college students have. I don't think it has a separate freezer compartment, but should have enough room for your 12-pack and other necessities. I really liked SSR, if you have any questions - please ask!

The fridges in the studios are the standard under counter variety. Think large dorm sized one. They have a SMALL freezer section, could fit a couple of water bottles, or a couple breakfast sandwiches, its not that big. If you took all the soda out of the packaging, you could fit it in and still have a little room remaining, but probably could not fit another 12 pack in.

I assume the refrig are the same as the other DVC studios.

We buy water and soda. When we take a bottle out of the refrig we put another in. That way you always have some cold water/soda in their.

Thanks for all the quick responses.

Anything in particular that you liked about SSR ? Have done quite a bit of research on it here and we're really excited, but anything that surprised you (in a good or bad way) about SSR that you didn't know going in ?

TIA

We've stayed at SSR twice and REALLY like it!!! It's so quiet and peaceful, yet still is in WDW and everything that offers. We're staying there in 2010, we like the lower point requirements (we're owners) and parking right outside your building. The decor is BEATIFUAL, IMO.

Does the little freezer compartment actually keeps things frozen? Even when the whole fridge is packed? :confused3

I've never stayed in a studio at SSR, so I don't really know. The freezer is a small metal box at the top left and it's open to the rest of thr fridge. I personally wouldn't be too confident with putting more than water bottles to freeze in there.

Yes it does. We stayed for 3 weeks last year at SSR in a studio. We had burger patties and steaks from Omaha Steaks in the freezer and they stayed frozen without a problem.

Thanks all, that is really good to know, especially the pint of ice cream!

You will hear a lot of differing opinions about SSR. Some people think it is too large and spread out, I thought the grounds were absolutely beautiful. I never had any bus issues, but I want to mention that if you stay at the "Springs" section which is the closest to the lobby, main pool, and food court, it is the last bus stop when going to the theme parks, but it is the first stop when taking a DD bus. It might be an issue if you have young children and the bus is crowded already. I stayed in the Paddocks, it was further out but fine by me. I didn't make any section or room requests, and was originally booked for a Studio but was upgraded to a 1BR. If you plan on going to DD, I would take advantage of the boat launch which is only about a six-minute ride. You can also walk from the resort to DD.

like OKW - very different style. OKW is laid back anything that you are happy with is fine.

at SSR felt like I had better upgrade.

the place is beautiful - so is OKW - but DVC upgrade the stuff inside SSR and it shows.

only the best was used. So for someone who is butter finger to the extreme - well I tried not to break, drop, or spill anything that week.

going back in Sept (trade thru II) so must have liked it!

Great question and great answers about the fridge. I've been wondering the same thing...I'll be staying at SSR the end of July...and traveling with my kids...not :rotfl2: sure yet if we're able to visit the parks...it might just be resort living:beach: but, whatever the plan turns out to be...I'm BIG on saving $$ and what's saved by cooking(microwaving/toasting) in our room..we can spend on all things Mickey! :cool1:

:confused3 Any rules about taking a cooler to the pool? At home we love to pack a cooler and head to the local pool for lunch/afternoon...Will that be OK at SSR?:confused3

You can bring a cooler to the pool, just no glass.

Great...thanks!

Just thought of another question.....

The microwave! Is it large enough to cook a frozen casserole? Or is it more for heating up small things like Lean Cuisine and other frozen dinners?:stir:

Sadly, we just stayed in a studio in Jan and I can't remember the size of the fridge or if we had a microwave?! :confused3

Heading to WDW tomorrow an we'll be staying in a SSR studio. Wondering... Will the small fridge fit a gallon of milk?

It's an undercounter refrigerator. It should have two shelves. This is bigger than the ones in the hotel rooms. And it should have a small freezer section.

We stayed in a studio in the Grandstand in April and our refrigerator did not have any freezer section at all. I had ordered a couple pints of ice cream but had no where to store it. Was this just random? Do most other rooms in the Grandstand have a small freezer section?
