We will be traveling to WDW in Oct, DH requires refrigeration for twice weekly injection medication. Is there a charge for fridge for medical purposes?

i don't think so - at least i've never had to pay since i started having a medical need. however, last year they did accidentally chaged us and when i saw it on the bill and called them, they took it off.

I asked when I called to make reservations and was told no, there will not be a charge. But the fridge is very small so do not expect to put anythig but meds in it.

We were not charged for our Ref. We made the request after we checked in, and Mousekeeping promptly delivered a dorm-size appliance and sharps disposal container. The CM half-heartedly suggested that we were lucky that they were out of the smaller meds refrigerators, but we suspect they are instructed to say this.

According to what people have posted, there are several different types of refrigerators you might get. The smallest is about the size of a shoebox and the largest is the dorm sized. Housekeeping will provide sharps containers on request.
They should not charge for a frig for medications (especially if you get one of the shoebox size ones), but do check your bill. As dj2 mentioned, the charge sometimes does show up.
A long time ago, they did not ever charge for refrigerators if there was a medical need. Then, people without medical needs started saying they did have needs just to get the frig. At that time, WDW started charging everyone even people who had medical needs because they said that too many people were requesting free refrigerators. That was a few years ago and there were posts where people with insulin or other refrigerated meds were told if they wanted to avoid a charge, they needed to keep their medication behind the desk, even if that meant several trips per day to the front desk to get their medication.
Then, there was a time persiod where some people were charged and others were not. From what people have been posting in the past year, almost everyone with medical needs has been able to get a frig without charge. If you are charged, I'd suggest talking to the manager. And, even if you are told it will be free, check your bill when you check out.

Our infant son has compounded meds - do you just draw up meds and put them in a cooler bag with ice packs or can you store refrigerated meds at First Aid in the parks? Or is there some other way you take your refrigerated meds so that you don't have to keep going back to resort every 4-6 hours?

Thanks!

You can store the medications at First Aid in the park. They will have you fill out a form, put the medications in a paper bag, and staple the form to the bag, and then put it in the refrigerator.

When you come for the medications, they will ask for positive ID before giving you the bag, and will also have you verify that everything you had put in was still there.

Also, you will get a private area and they have Sharps containers if you need them.

Thanks! That was just the info we needed. I had a feeling someone on this board would be able to help. :)

My husband has a bag for his insulin that has a little freezer thing in there so he can carry it around all day if he wants. usually i carry it in my backpack. did not know they had containers for sharps. i will have to ask about that.

On a UK board (the dibb) there was a post that Disney are not charging for fridges in any of the moderate or de-luxe hotels anymore. They have never charged for medical use fridges.

Just got bad from All Star Sports and was not charged for the dorm sized refrigerator. Actually had both the in room frig (very small) and the dorm sized as I needed it for my sodas and medication and I cannot use the diet Coke due to allergy. No charge at all.
