First off, thank you everyone for the wonderful knowledge on these boards! I felt like we knew a little bit about what we were doing getting on the boat. Here's some notes from our trip:

Pools - pretty much equals human soup. If they weren't closed because someone pooped in them, they were busy busy busy during the day. If you want to swim, go after dinner. We spent much of our time on decks 11, 12, and 13 after dinner when hardly anyone was there! It was wonderful!

Room - we had a deluxe family oceanview room - 6670. Plenty large for our family of 4 (me, DH, DS - 5, and DD - 2). DD had a rough time falling asleep and staying asleep on her own, so often DH shared the queen sized bed with her. I took the Murphy bed right next to the window and slept just fine. We did have quite a bit of rocking on nights 2 and 3, and I ended up taking Bonine those nights so I could get some good sleep, but I do fall victim to motion sickness quite easily, and the winds outside were upwards of 30+ knots at times.

Aqua Duck - because of the high winds we seemed to experience the entire trip, most of the time the Aqua Duck required 2 people to ride (no solo riders) or was closed all together (mainly evenings). With our two young kiddos we didn't get to try the aqua duck at all. BUT...I have a fix for that....coming later in this report

Meals - I thought the meals were very good! Cabana's had a great lunch (shrimp with that yummy sauce..oh my!) and a good variety of things to hit most tastes. Loved being able to get Eggs Benedict every morning for breakfast! Yummo!! Our rotation was: ERRA

Servers - Our head server was Roy and our assistant server was Manuel. Both were headed on vacation for 8 weeks at the conclusion of our cruise. Wonderful guys! We got to learn about some of the "inner workings" of the ship, which was neat.

Cruise Director - Jimmy....he does a great job! So upbeat. He mentioned having a family, how long does he stay on the ship at once?? Our servers mentioned they are on 6 month contracts! Yikes! Goodness that's a long time to be away.

Kids Club/Nursery - we did end up using the nursery for dinner 3 nights. The first night she was "over" dinner about 20 minutes in, so we took her upstairs and checked her in. She seemed to love being in there and helping the ladies with the babies in the room and doing crafts. We did keep her with us for the Animators Palate dinner, and glad we did! Our son, who is 5, tried the kids club once and lasted about 10 minutes. He doesn't do well with sudden change, and unfamiliar things, so we were worried that may happen. It worked out okay in the end, he got lots of time with just mom and dad during dinner and we usually had an hour or so after dinner before we had to pick up little sis from the nursery so he and dad often went to play on Goofy's sports deck while I wandered about.

Nassau - we got off the boat for about an hour here. It was just a rough day with our son, so we stayed on the boat longer than we intended. Did a tiny bit of shopping, snapped a few pictures and back on we got.

Castaway Cay - beautiful place! It rained for about 20 minutes, but then cleared back out for a beautiful day! Saw quite a bit of marine life. If you have kids that like to play in the sand, figure out a way to pack a bucket and shovels, or be ready to shuck out some cash for ones there. You bet we figured out a way to pack home the $20 sand play kit!!

We did make an unexpected stop in Ft. Lauderdale for a medical emergency. Not sure what happened, but prayers everything was ok. We hauled tush from Castaway Cay to there that evening, with a brief slowdown for fireworks for pirate night.

This is getting long so I'll close with we loved it so much, we put the $250 down as a placeholder! We want to do an "adults only" trip next time, as there's so much to see and do on the boat for 18+ that we didn't get to experience. While our daughter would be elated to go again, our son probably not so much, so we'll just make it for us two.

If anyone has questions...ask away!! :)

Sounds like you had an amazing time!

Castaway Cay is my favorite place in the world!! I haven't been on the Dream yet, but that will come soon enough! (Fingers Crossed).

I've heard really mixed feelings on Nassau. Most of my friends said they didn't enjoy it and suggested booking a port adventure or to just stay on the ship. I'm going on the Wonder in February and we have a stop there. I'm debating a few Port Adventures currently.

And the meals are the best part!!!!

We had Jimmy as cruise director on our Panama Canal cruise, 14 nights, so we saw a lot of him. I think he is a fantastic cruise director and definitely made a large impact on such a long cruise. The cruise directors are on the ship for quite a long time, too. I think I remember that he was talking about actually meeting his wife on the Disney Wonder when he started working in the cruise industry (he was doing radio before). They were both kids club counsellors.

Sounds like you had a great time! Thanks for posting! One question: What type of paper navigators did you get after the first day: only one sheet or several pages? Thanks!

Thank you for reminding me about the navigators! I've seen folks talking about that lately. We did indeed receive just a one page (front/back) navigator. There was a lengthy one on the first day, but then that quick one pager the other days. It didn't bother us, but again, we didn't know the "old" way" with this being our first.

Wait, did I miss what the fix to the AquDuck was? No matter. Seems like you had a good time, and adjusted well to the requirements of your kids and their ability to want to participate in the kids clubs and diner.

I think OP was going to bring that up later, with more of a review. Maybe I misunderstood.

Question about "new style" Navigators , I didn't know they are abbreviated now. Is the typeface smaller or is everything arranged differently ? Hard to read? Wondering what's changed.

Instead of the 6 page Navigator (large folded page making 4 pages) with a single page insert (that has the grid style schedule on it), they've only been handing out the single sheet insert as the Navigator now. Except for embarkation day at last report.

If you go here: http://disneycruiselineblog.com/personal-navigators/ and open any of the Navigators there, you'll see what they used to look like.

There are 4 pages of write ups of what's going on around the ship, and some nice, colorful graphics. The insert sheet is just a grid on one side with the schedule (titles of events only, no description) and the hours of operation of the various venues on the other.

All that's, apparently, being left in the room for the next day is the single page, grid schedule.

I think the "fix" is a future adults-only trip! :D

I did omit that! Our "fix" is going back just us two to enjoy the ship as adults only. It was closed so much (or swamped the other times) not sure we would have enjoyed wasting time waiting in line anyways. :)

That's the best we did a family B 2 adults only B cruise on the Dream this year. Totally different vacations!

We were on the 10/17 Dream sailing. Jimmy is awesome! He was always so upbeat and friendly and took the time to stop and talk to you if you ran into him on the ship!

About Nassau... We really don't like it but we have tried an excursion to Blue Lagoon and it was nice. I've heard good things about Atlantis too. Outside of those excursions, I would stay on the ship.

You got it! Sorry, catching up at work and busy night at home. Our "fix" is a return trip with just us two :)

You're going to love it. Here are some suggestions:

-I highly recommend "splurging" a little and try Palo (brunch or dinner) and Remy (dinner). Both are so romantic...!

-I'm not the biggest fan of bars but Pink, Skyline and 687 are great.

-If you like alcohol, I also recommend the Wine Tasting class (At Pink) and the Mixology class (At Skyline). There's a fee for it (usually between 20 and 35$) and trust me, you'll get out of there tipsy! The wine one is very interesting. The Mixology one is super fun!

-Cove cafe has a fee but they have excellent choices.

-Senses Spa is great. We have tried the Rainforest day pass. It a good value for the price.

-The Quiet Cove section is very nice. The pool over there can be crowded but I've never seen it become a "human soup" like the children's pools.

I was just on the 10/29-11/5 Western Fantasy and we had full Navigators every day. It definitely seems to vary. Maybe by ship?

I believe it was originally speculated that they may be "testing" this option (I think on the Magic, but I'm not sure). But, possibly, enough of us contacted DCL and expressed our opinion on the change, that they've either stopped or are reassessing the change. It's happened before.
