Frequent Flyer Miles - Tips and Tricks

This question may already be ongoing on the Budget Board, however after seeing this piece they did on TV yesterday about the coupons given out at Wendy's for free airline flights it got me thinking about FF miles and Hotel points.

Just last year we started paying all of our bills and linking the earnings to Continental OnePass miles. I've also just recently linked my Shoprite card to my Continental One Pass to earn one mile for every $2 spent, and I signed up for a Visa card given for Marriott points (15,000 for using it once) and it got me thinking how else people rack up points to fly and stay for free. Dh and I dream of going to Hawaii in about 3.5 years for our 10 year anniversary.

I admit i'm coming into this game late, and kick myself for not using my OnePass card years ago, however does anyone have and tricks or tips to earn miles/points faster?
