French Toast

Try making it with english muffins, very yummy. Although I guess you'd have to call it euro toast instead;) .

Mine is very simple and probably boring, but everyone who tries it loves it.

I just beat the eggs, add milk and a good pinch of sugar and mix again and it's ready for dipping your bread before it goes in the pan/skillet.

Sorry, nothing fancy :D

Plain old milk, eggs & vanilla extract here but I use day old Italian bread. Yummy!!

My DH loves it when I use Texas Toast white bread & cut the middle out (with an inverted drinking glass) before dunking the bread in the liquid mixture & break an egg open in the middle while it's frying. He LOVES that! I don't see the attraction to syrup over a fried egg but he does!

What a coincidence to see this thread after just having made french toast for breakfast. My family loves baked french toast and if you have the time to prepare it, it's just wonderful. Because of the bitter cold we're experiencing here in the Northeast, they had already cancelled school for today by last night's 6pm news. I thought it would be a perfect morning to have the stove on and some yummy french toast to pop in. I take a loaf of french bread and cut it in thick slices. Place them in a greased 13X9 pan. Mix 6 eggs, vanilla, cinammon, nutmeg and about 3 cups of liquid. I use milk or a cream/milk mixture. Pour over the french bread, cover and refrigerate overnight. In the morning you preheat the oven to 350 and flip the bread slices over. Mix 3T corn syrup with 2/3C brown sugar and melted butter. You can also add pecans if you like. Pour this over the top of the bread and bake in the oven for 40 minutes. You can serve with syrup or warm fruit. Delicious!

I can't believe that in 2 pages of posts, no one talked of my favorite secret ingredient... orange juice.

Whip up whole eggs, milk or cream, vanilla and some orange juice and soak the bread prior to browning. Sprinkle cinnamon on one side and serve with butter and real maple syrup.

Ooh, how I wish this was an Atkins' friendly breakfast...
