I was just able to get two nights mar.30 and 31st in the French Quarter. Has anybody stayed here? how is it?
also, I was told I would lose the points I used on the French Quarter if I waitlisted for Saratoga? This doesn't sound right to me, but I'm new to this. Any help would be appreciated.

once you have taken your points out of the DVC system - then they can't go back.

the DVC are - SSR, OKW, VWL, BWV and BCV at WDW.

all the other resorts are WDW only.

if you are staying at POFQ - then your points are out of the DVC. If you cancel you could lose those points - unless there is another WDW resort that you might like to stay at with those points. They can't go back to a DVC resort.

I think the FQ is lovely - however if can't compare to a DVC studio.

DVC points are converted to "reservation" status as soon as they are used to reserve a non-DVC option. This allows DVC to free up a cash CRO reservation at a DVC resort immediately.

If you later cancel the reservation at the non-DVC option (Port Orleans in this case), the points can not be used at a DVC resort. They are "Reservation Points" and may only be used for reservations at one of the non-DVC options.

Good luck!

And just to add to that... The Reservation Points also cannot be used for World Passport Collection exchanges because those exchanges require DVC to provide DVC inventory to the exchange company.

Stayed there when it was still called Dixie Landings. Loved it. Fun pool theme, easy access, service counter food was more than acceptable. But, as previously mentioned, it is not a DVC studio.

Don't worry about staying at POFQ! The whole Durango clan stayed there in May. It is beautiful, relaxing, the rooms were very nice and quiet. Our youngest Durangan loved the pool. Easy boat ride to DTD, it goes right past SSR. Enjoy!

We just stayed at Dixie Landings (which is now called PO Riverside) this past December (see my "you never forget your first love" post.) But we have never stayed at POFQ. They are sister resorts, and many people love POFQ.
They have beautiful landscaping and a very nice theme. I hope you enjoy it!

My wife and I stayed there (Sat night) to begin a 12 day WDW trip this past June. We got a great AP Rate ($79 I believe), and saved 32 points. Room was very nice - they were remodeled recently. Food court was fine, and we enjoyed the little cafe (bar) in the main building as well. Walk to POR didn't seem like much to us, so we walked over twice, once to eat at food court (very good), and once just to check out the lay of the land. We'll stay again at either POFQ or POR again to save points.

I may be just a little biased on this issue, but I think FQ and/or Riverside are wonderful resorts! Of course, I also work there at front desk!! FQ was just recently renovated. It is a small but charming resort, modelled after the streets/buildings in New Orleans. Lots of "grill work" on the pastel colored buildings, small quaint streets, fountains and gardens. Our pool is a treat for the kids - a big dragon going in and out of the pool is the water slide. The food court is good and of course the castmembers are the best LOL!! I hope you enjoy your stay with us!

We stayed at POFQ this past september. If we had not bought DVC we would be staying there this upcomming trip as well. Its got an awesome atmosphere and theming. We really liked it best of all the disney moderates.

My husband and I stayed at the French Quarter last May as we were attending the Members Homecoming and didn't have any points left to use. We got a fantastic AP rate - $74 per night. The rooms were completely remodeled and very nice.
