can anyone tell me if the French onion soup at Chefs de France has onion chunks in the soup or is it more of a creamy soup.

I like onion, but not if it is even a little crunchy.

TIA

There are definitely slivers of cooked onion in the soup. Not big enough that you have to chew any that I can remember, and they wouldn't be crunchy if you did...maybe more of a cooked mushroom sort of "give" to the tooth?

It's beef broth with cooked onions in it topped with bread and cheese. It is my favorite soup of all time. Depending on how long the onions have been cooked they can be a bit chewier or fairly soft. It is not a creamy soup.

Not creamy, there are slices of onion in it, not really crunchy though, they are more on the soft side. LOVE IT!

French onion soup is broth (usually beef broth) with pieces of onions in it. The onions are cooked, so they are not crunchy, but they are very obviously pieces of onion. It is not a cream soup.

It's really good-tasting soup. Just don't let the occasional onion skin bother you.

or perhaps that was just a rare anomaly kind of thing...

The French onion soup at Chefs is very good. But I have to agree, definitely not a cream soup. Beef broth and cooked onions. Cheese and bread. My daughter manages to eat it and leave most of the onions at the bottom of the bowl. She dunks bread into the broth to make sure she gets all of that! But even she will admit that when she is eating the cheese and bread that is part of the soup, she eats some of the onions!

If you are worried and want to at least get an idea of what you think before you go, buy a can of Campbell's French Onion soup and try this easy recipe from the food website:

Ingredients
1 (10 1/2 ounce) can Campbells French onion soup
1/3 cup water (optional)
1/2 cup croutons
1 slice provolone cheese

Directions
Heat the soup on the stove or in a bowl in the microwave. Add croutons. Top with cheese. Let cheese melt. It's that easy! Enjoy!

*Or after topping with cheese you can put it under the broiler for a few seconds in an oven safe bowl if you want the cheese browned*

You can always forget the bread and cheese and just heat the soup up and taste it too. :goodvibes

Of course the Chefs version will be a million times better, but at least you would be able to decide if has an appetizing texture to you or not.

We've eaten french onion soup in so many places, and I have to say that Chefs is our absolute favorite!!!! LOVE!!!!

I don't eat all the cooked onions on the bottom - I like the cheese, broth, and bread.

I had it during dinner this past March. Not creamy, slivers of onion, so very delicious! The whole meal, inlcuding the salmon and creme brulee was one of the best meals I've ever had at Disney!

Just an FYI...that will have the same texture as traditional French Onion soup, but that Campbell's stuff has almost no flavor...I really, really hope Chefs soup doesn't taste like that...if it does, I am going to cancel my ADR.
