Hi. Wondering if my fellow DIS board members could help me out.

I have to travel with re-freezable ice packs for my belt, vest and pad. However, we stay @ POR and the fridge doesn't have a large enough space to freeze all of them. ( I have been using the smaller belt which only takes 4, however my symptoms are getting worse and I think I am going to need my vest next trip which can use up to 16) and....

I also sleep on ice packs in a pad on my head and neck. Because of the space issue, I have brought huge ziplock bags, filled them with ice and double bagged them to sleep on. Sadly they have leaked several times and I would prefer to sleep on my ice pad.

How can I freeze them? What do you suggest?

Once when we stayed @ The Poly, we got ( after 4 days and 9 CM conversations) a small "ice cream freezer" which was approx same size as the fridge in room. The problem with this is we had to have positioned not near a wall or furniture to have it properly work! POR is a pretty small room with an ECV.

Does the POR have these types of freezers as a medical request? Is there an alternate place for me to freeze my packs? * Also, always wondered is First Aid an option to store some packs during the day so I can switch them out? *

Thank you in advance for any information.:thumbsup2

I'm not sure if the resorts have a freezer for medical request, but I believe you can arrange to rent one from a medical supply company. Similar to any other equipment rentals, they'll arrange to have it delivered directly to your room and picked up.

Yes, First Aid would be a good option for you as far as keeping ice packs frozen during the day.

Enjoy your vacation!

If you drop them with Bell Services, they can store them in their freezer for you. It may be a bit of a pain to go there several times per day to swap them but it is at least an option for when you're at your resort.

You can turn up the entire refrigerator unit to a somewhat freezable temperature I did this once & it worked. (You can't keep juices, cheese, or whatever else in the fridge, because it will all freeze.)

Just be sure to turn the fridge back down again when you leave so that the next person won't have frozen juices! :goodvibes
