Is there anywhere near Disneyland the we can get free net access? We are considering bringing a laptop with us so we can keep in touch with the family while we're gone. Our Hotel does not have any?! So just wondering if any one else has any tips. Even just enough to email home a few times if needed.

i dont think its a wise idea to bring a laptop to Disneyland. I suggest a cellphone... with pix messeging, but most cellphones can also send emails as well. I never tried to see if there is wireless net but i believe there is a slim chance. I have found a few unclaimed cell phones and cameras which they left on my cart which i turned in to city hall, but i dont think its been claimed.

At the hotel, there might be a business center you can get on... i dont know about wireless...

The Best Western Anaheim Inn across the street has wireless .. you could sneak over there with your lappie, and sit beneath one of the access points .. they wont say anything..

There's a coffee shop just opposite the Candy Cane Inn (in the strip with Subway) that also has wireless internet. The Best Western are also very nice about letting you use their (paid) internet if you're not a guest, so hopefully they won't mind a short trip on the wireless either!!!

As the first poster said, I agree, I wouldn't take a laptop. GC has wireless in the lobby. :santa:

I agree. When we were there, my friend could get wireless in the Grand Californian. We went to the Hearth Lounge, and off to the left there are some chairs & tables, and found some outlets, too.

Well I think I will try to talk him out of it but there are times it would be nice. Forgive my ignorance, but do most hotels have a computer they allow the guests to use?
(I dont travel much so I'm a little behind the times as far as big cities go)

Most likely there is, they usually call them business centers... but may cost money. Bringing your laptop to your hotel should be fine, its the matter of taking it in the park that isnt such a good idea. Most of the time, the hotel will supply free internet from your room.

Just wondering if anyone knows about any free wireless in the general area (I'll be staying with my aunt so I can be driven just about anywhere within reason). Also, does anyone know if LAX has internet access (totally not expecting anything free there! LOL!) or DTW (which is pretty off topic for this board so I'll leave it at that). TIA!!!

First...I don't think the OP was talking about taking a laptop INTO the park...but to find an internet access point near their hotel. With that in mind, I wouldn't hesitate to bring my laptop on my vacation. I do it most of the time. It's great to check on email and to transfer photos from your digital.

Some hotels have computers you can use but they'll charge you for it (business centres) and on the off chance they don't, you're usually waiting or fighting off kids for the use of the computer. Much nicer to use your computer while in your room.

As for LAX...I don't remember the price but I did see some 'stations' for plugging in your laptop. I also remember nearly croaking at the price. My advice is that if you must use your laptop at the airport, just use it to watch movies. The cost is just too prohibitive. It would be cheaper to call somebody long distance and have THEM check your email. LOL

No not into the Park. Just something to keep in touch every few days with home. Our son 18, will be home alone and you never know.

LOL if only it were as simple as just e-mail. I just started my first sememster of college and I may need to send in/receive assignments while I'm down there. Eek! Oh well, I guess If I'm gonna have to do it, I'm gonna have to do it. Thanks for the quick reply though!

Ahhhh...well, the prices for connecting near Disneyland are much more reasonable than at LAX. If the other previous suggestions don't help, there's always the Kinkos at the Anaheim Mariott. They have computers and a connection (if you have a laptop) and while they weren't cheap, they won't bankrupt you either.

well, ill go around and take a look with my psp... there might be a 2wire connection. 2wire is like a paid internet might want to consider using that. I go to work at DCA today.

Just wanted to say thanks soooo much to everyone with suggestions! I think I'm going to have to print out a list of them and take it with me! Thanks again!!!
