Free WiFi at Disneyland?

Same here. From Canada so won't have a data plan at the park. Disney World had free wifi, which was great checking wait times. Maybe it's not as needed at Disneyland since attractions aren't as spread out?

Them being spread out helps spread the load to make wifi easier. The problem with Disneyland is it's a much more congested area, so you get a lot more interference due to the amount of devices walking around the park. The amount of bandwidth needed as well is huge. I can tell you the free wifi at Disneyworld is not cheap, but with everything there tied into the MDE app, it's necessary.

Good point with the MDE app having all your reservations (FP, ADRs, etc) at Disney World. Mind you, I printed out our schedule and really just used the Wifi for the wait times...but that was probably just me. Yeah, can imagine it's a cost and the interference in a smaller area.

Another Canuck here. I'm thinking about getting a roaming package... How much data will I need to run the app for four days do you think?

For those from Canada, Telus has a roaming "plan" for $7/day that allows you to use your phone as if you were in Canada. It uses your plans data, voice and text to the extent that you would have in Canada. It only charges you the $7 on the days you use your phone for text, voice or data.

We're also in Canada and a few trips ago we bought US SIM cards from Roam Mobility, had Telus unlock our phones and now all I have to do is reactivate a plan. They have a talk+text+data plan for $4.95/day that includes:

UNLIMITED
  • Nationwide Talk
  • Global Text
  • 2G Data**
  • Global MMS
  • Long-Distance Calls to Canada
  • Hotspot tethering
  • 500 MB 4G LTE Data*
  • Voicemail
  • Caller ID
Since we are in the USA twice a year at least, this has been the best choice for us.

I have used Roam Mobility in the past but it doesn't work well for us. I'd rather not have to remember to tell everyone a new number and a USA number would be long distance for anyone who needed to call us.

Back on the WIFI topic, I have often been able to pick up free WIFI in WhiteWater Snacks at the Grand California Hotel and sometimes near that entrance.

We always tell people to send us a text and we will call them. Global texts and calls back to Canada are included!

I think we will be stuck with Rogers "Roam Like Home" which is 5 bucks a day and taps into the current plan. Unless I find something better! Thanks for the advice.

Being from canada i dont like to use mycell phone much there since it costs so much. While my hubby takes the kids on grizzly rivers ill sit outside the ride and use the Grand Californas wifi while i sit with the baby :)
